My Last Two Years
funkycub
26-01-2010
I haven't been to the loo on my own

I am unable to read a paper without the pages getting covered

The kitchen has become the bolt hole that everyone wants to get to

I have given up trying to have a lie in at weekends

I barely make it down the stairs without being tripped up

I am watched whilst in the bath

I get "help" with everything I do, even tho I don't want the "help" and it is of no use whatsoever

I am constantly being followed around the house

Someone always sits on my lap just as I want to move

I am in the habit of having conversations I would not have had two years ago.

I can never find that pen i left just on that table over there, it's just gone

I seem to find silver foil randomly in my house everywhere.

My comfort has become the least important thing.

My girls arrived two years ago today (26th) and tomorrow (27th) and you know what, i wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy Homeday Ella and Effie.

Can relate to this entirely...esp the loo and the bath - thank goodness I'm not the only one who has conversations along the lines of "I'm using MY litterbox" and "I'm having a wish-wash"!

Lol!

They are gorgeous Funkycub. My girl (now 12) has a 'routine' which involves cat love/pussy paddling in the middle of the night. As she has got older she does it more and more. She gets loads of love during the day but as soon as she hears us going to bed - she is there before us. She will paddle and suck for about 10 minutes then go downstairs, I go to sleep and am woken usually about 4am, then 5am, then 6am ...

She has done this since we got her as a rescue puss at about one year old - I have always thought she was insecure because of previous ill treatment but I'm just guessing.

They are lovely!!!

Agree with everything you say but like you, I wouldnt have it any other way.

When my cat went missing I was distraught. She came back about 2 weeks later and never again have I tutted or huffed and puffed when she's woken me up early, or sits on my newspaper or does any of the things you said.

They're precious.

What a lovely thread

And I hear you totally - I only have the one little furrball and she rules to roost.... Although she is really good at letting us have a lie-in (as long as she can join us - normally nesting in my hair!!)

We've had Amber for 18 months now and wouldn't have it any other way!!

Happy homeday to your beautiful kitties Funkycub!

My two will be 3 this year and we got them in September time.

Never before have I had to play fetch with a cat, now I have 2 that demand it!

Never has my Dad been a "cat person" but somehow Daisy has him wrapped around her little paw.

Never laughed so much at an animal as I do with these two, they are so funny and full of character.

Love em

Oh no you don't! You don't even rake your litter before and cover over properly after!!
I know because your cats told me so

My cats also tell me I do it all wrong, the dogs disagree with the cats as to how I'm doing it wrong, but they all agree that I am

Great description of life with pets funckycub but my life has never been any different. , it' s been a lifelong problem

Thank god for this thread

I thought it was just me who had a cat which stalked me whilst I was on the loo!

It's funny isn't it, the things we share as cat owners. I hightly recommend the Simon's cat videos and book if you haven't seen them. I cry laughing

Magsy - you should watch the Simon's cat video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0ffwDYo00Q your post made me laugh. Ella and Effie work as a tag team in our house. Ella is the enabler, she jumps on the door handle and opens the door, she then goes downstairs. Whereas Effie comes in and then starts the padding and tapping till we have to get up.

wilhemina - I would have my life another way actually! If i won the lottery I would open a cats home for all those unwanted cats, giving them forever homes. Sad I know but I get so much joy from my two - if only money and room was no option!

RAINBOWGIRL22: I am liking the sound of Amber and the lie in; would you consider a swap. two for one

Aww thanks curmy. I hope rosie is ok.

Thanks Kelly, I always enjoy your fishie baby threads so it's nice to get a compliment about my girls back

SuperSpurs; my partner was not a cat person either; he was not happy when we got them. You should see him now. Effie is his world; whereas Ella is much more attached to me!

gonnaenodaethat - you have THAT conversation too eh!! How funny. you are mad and so am I ha ha!!

stud u like - thak you for posting. I check on news of IP every day, I actually questionned whether I should post this with missing and other members cats being ill. So I glad you have posted

Taas; I could never NOT be a pet owner now. I did have two cats 15 years ago but they both got run over within a week of one another. it took me a long time to get Ella and Effie and I would never be without again. I would like a ginger "Son" tho!

Ninja Kitty: Thanks. No Ella is the most vocal cat and when I am doing number two she just sit infront of me and moans. Effie jumps on the back shelf and taps me on the head or kisses me as I am erm... well!

My seven month old boy kitten tries to grab the loo roll as I am using it...... He also tries to get in the shower with my 15 year old son every morning!

I was thinking we should start a cat chat thread, just a place to talk rubbish about our cats. Sometimes you want to say stuff that doesn't fit in another thread and doesn't warrant it's own!

That's a good idea Funkycub - just to talk about the funny things they do on a daily basis.

Funkycub ~ I am totally with you on your dream of having a home large enough to give lots of unwanted cats (& other animals) a happy life. When I'm walking my dogs I sometimes daydream about what I would do if I won the lottery. But until my numbers come up I can only do what I can for any animals I come across that I can help, even if only in small ways. And obviously my own cats & dogs take priority as they are my responsibility & they totally depend on me.

I have lots of dog-owning friends that seem to think cats are not as much fun as dogs & that there's not much you can do with cats other than cuddle & feed them. But one of these friends is currently looking after several cats when owners go on holiday & she is now gradually coming round to see that cats are real characters, with different personalities, likes & dislikes etc. So I'm slowly converting this dog-loving friend into a cat-lover, & telling her what fascinating creatures they are, how you can clicker train them (or they can vocally train you), & how playful they can be. She's now considering rehoming a couple of unwanted middle-aged moggies so I feel that in a small way I've helped another couple of cats on their way to a happy life. Every little helps......

Funkycub - have just watched the 'Simon's cat' video - the non-cartoon one is brilliant too. Last night we had a change, it is now chest love, she just can't get close enough. I can only take it for about 10 minutes then I have to move (she is rather heavy).

This morning was woken with a loud bang that sounded like the postman had delivered a heavy catalogue. No - it was Jenny falling off the bed (again)! She does tend to fall over when cleaning as her balance isn't good. So why, I ask myself, does she not clean herself on the floor? No, she does it on the window sill - falls and hurts herself on the radiator; she does it on the backs of chairs/sofas - falls and looks embarrassed. Bless her, nearly 12 years old and has learned nothing!

It's great when that happens.

I am planning to win the next Euromillions Rollover and of course I will be needing staff for the pethome!
