its not really cheating, just pure desperation.. which is funny because she seems immortal at the moment, even with average songs.. which weren't written or produced by her. anyone could have sang "Fight For This Love" and it wouldn't have been a hit but because it's Cheryl Cole it is. Same will probably apply to the Brits.

It is a bit desperate, and I feel that the winner should be somebody who actually wrote their own song, no matter how crap it is. Therefore Dizzee Rascal, Pixie Lott, La Roux, Tinchy Stryder, Taio Cruz, Alesha Dixon or Lily Allen should win.
I'm personally keeping my fingers crossed for Lily or Alesha. |

I'm personally keeping my fingers crossed for Lily or Alesha. should a song be discounted from the "best single" because the person who wrote it didn't sing it? some of the best songs in history have been written and perfromed by different people Pavarottis famous Nessun Dorma, he didn't write that Sinatra didn't write My Way should those songs not have won their respective awards because the singer and writer are not the same person |

Not a cheat but she comes across very desperate!
You know what? It wouldn't suprise me if she won. It seems she cannot put a foot wrong at the moment, she has her fans and she is seen as the nations sweetheart. |

Because if it won, Cole would be the one going up on stage to get the award not whomever wrote it?
the writers would rather their song won even if they dont collect it |

Fight For This Love is hardly Nessun Dorma or My Way though, is it?
if that is Cheryls song then it should be her song that gets the best single award I dont think her song is the best song of the year for the record |

no but I was just illustrating a point that it's the SONG that's up for the award and it should be the best song of the year whatever that is that wins

This proves to me that people generally prefer The Fear to FFTL, which was bought in the hype of X Factor, and sales died down after a couple of weeks, whereas people actually liked The Fear for being a good song. |

I was going to say, because there is no way FFTL is as lyrically clever as The Fear.

Cheryl Cole's LABEL is offering a prize, not her personally as you seem to make out. And the prize is for promoting the brits voting page, not for voting loads. From the site: Quote:
We'll be giving away a personalised ‘Fight For This Love’ platinum single award as a prize for the most active members of the team - so be sure to take screen shots of all your efforts and send them to us at goteamcheryl@googlemail.com
I assume they're looking for pictures of people handing out banners or leaflets, tweeting, making graphics or something like that. It's not encouraging multivoting at all

FFTL: 292,845 138,614 75,450 53,624 40,190 Fear: 83,367 69,002 59,671 45,629 30,961 So despite it not being #1 for as long, it was still selling more than what Lilly was selling at #1. Cheryl would've been #1 for longer were it not for the huge acts like JLS, Leona, Gaga, BEP, etc. If they all released when Lilly did she wouldn't have stayed at #1. Cheryl had over 15,000 more sales in their third week but that wasn't enough for #1. |

oh yeah I'm sure she was in charge on the whole production process
Face it, Cheryl is shit. Lily has so much more talent, and as Lily put it, she may not be as pretty as Cheryl, but at least she actually writes her own stuff. And production is nothing. It's all about lyrics for me. Good production cannot save a song (take Taio Cruz's "Break Your Heart" or Pitbull's I Know You Want Me" for example). Both utter dross.

In fact, the nominees this year pretty much show how awful music has become. These awards are meant to represent what kind of music Britain like. And if it's Cheryl Cole, well, kill me now. I shall be sticking to the good old NME Awards. At least I actually like more than half of the nominees there. |
