Foxsat HD/HDR OTA firmware available from 5th Feb - according to DTG website

Lets hope it fixes the annoying green screen problem

My guess/bet is it’s something to do with the iplayer.

I've been keeping my eye on this and yesterday the DTG website reported that the current firmware update was due to end as of the 4th Feb. It still appears that this is still the case. It doesn't however state that a new version is being transmited from the 5th onwards.

It's new firmware for the freeview 9150/9300 not the freesat boxes.

I saw the update (via RSS feed) yesterday, but it only stated the current update will end on 4th Feb.

Just looked again, and I can't find anything that says a new update will be released on the 5th.

I think grahamlthompson's post above explains it, as a couple of updates for some of the Humax Freeview PVRs are being released on 4/2/2010 & 6/2/2010.

Granted, the DTG website doesn't specifically state a new firmware will start on the 5th. But previous firmware OTA have followed a similar pattern of being replaced by a new version on the day after the previous one stopped being broadcast. I have just assumed that this would be the case on this occasion as well. I also agree, and am of the opinion that if a new firmware is being broadcast, that it is likely to be related to iPlayer (possibly going from beta to formal release).

Most likely is that they will be finally broadcasting the most recent FOXSAT HD version that has been on the support pages for weeks now!

I thought the DTG site was well known, for finding out when the next software was going out over-air on both Freeview and Freesat....

However this page only shows the end-date of the old software.
A quick flick round the various other pages didn't reveal anything. All we have is speculation about what follows the ending of .24. On past form it has been something new, but that's speculation not news.
(Someone needs to explain this to news broadcasters!)

Nope, new one to me, cheers.

I did a search of this topic in this forum..
all that i found was along the lines that..
"There are very few freesat channels in the high bands"...from graham..
Have i been lucky in that this problem has not made itself known to me yet..
have been hammering the drive to avoid early failure
and running 70% full at moment..
BUT i have had another "..Let me tune up your channels"
and yes as before ..NOWT found and saved.

The paucity of channels in the high bands is not really relevant here. It's a fact that makes anyone using a hdr on one cable considerably more versatile as it makes close to 50% of available channels available to the second tuner.

Try a factory reset, as I said above my hdrs only done it the once.

Why does the drive need using to capacity "to avoid early failure"?

IF the firmware update does happen make sure you have downloaded and saved the version now on the Humax website to the hard drive on your computer. It will save you a lot of grief if you can roll back to the old software, via a USB stick, if there is a problem, as happened with the Humax HD boxes in November 2009.
