The thin-ness is still limited by the size of the ports and hardware so it's not going to be much thinner than various netbooks already on the market. Oh and you'll be forced to hold it with at least one hand severly limiting your interaction - multi-touch or not; else you'll be staring down at it on your lap/table giving yourself sh*t viewing angles and a bad neck. That and there's no discernable benefit from having a tablet form for day-to-day tasks and it doesn't even have a superior battery life to current netbooks on the market despite having weaker hardware. The only good use I can see is for electronic magazine/newspaper subscription - something e-readers already do better, since they strain the eyes less.
Am I missing something?”
In complete agreement with you. I can see the appeal of an iPod Touch, or iPhone; it fits in your pocket, and gives you a lot of portable bang for your buck. But where does a tablet form factor become beneficial? As you say, the fact of it being a tablet is not very ergonomic. It's basically an oversized iPod Touch.
