When offered the re-tune i have said 'Yes' rather than have an interuption later..
One new channel was found yesterday moring and since then NOWT..
but even NOWT is then 'Saved'..
This has only happened in the last 2 to 3 days..
Will it go on for ever I wonder?

I had this, the day before yesterday i was asked to retune on both my boxes and both displayed 1 new channel added.

Yesterday one of my boxes asked me to retune and nothing was added, removed or changed.

My second box has been fine.

My new Grundig has not done a retune. Mind you, I think that the Harvard units such as the Grundig and Goodman's don't need a retune of channels once a new channel has been added, I think that its just added.

BET (channel 140) has started up on a new frequency which prompted one auto scan however it wasn't reported as a change. New frequency is 11344 H (still transmitting on 11307 V as well).
No idea why the change is not being reported - software error or someone not setting a flag?

I have two Bush SD boxes and neither add channels automatically, no mention of them either unless i manual tune.

Ahh then it might be different with the HD PVR's. My Grundig GUFSDTR500HD has added the channels but didn't require a retune or anything, they were just added automatically .

Exactly the same thing is happening to me as well,Stan.I just press the "OK" button and let it get on with it.Bit annoying though, because it's only started doing it since a couple of days ago.

My hdr did a retune on boot up this morning and found no changes but it's so far only done it once despite 4 reboots.

This has happened to me for the last 3 days, retune then no channels added removed or changed
At least i know that there's not something wrong with my Humax HDR

Depends how you define wrong surely Serge
It did not used to do it so something's changed..
I have just had my first re-tune today and i am now thinking..
The offers are YES.. LATER and NO..
The first 2 are largely self evident although later could be next week..BUT..
What happens if one says 'NO' which i plan to do when next offered..
Will it never ever offer to re-tune the set again I wonder?
And then when it's needed the set will be broken?
Like me you have a recent set I assume BUt
Graham with a much older set ..does not seemingly have the 'Offers'

Same here, the last few days I have had to do a scan - with no channels added and none removed. I wonder what's going on????

I would reckon that because other users are having the same issue then it's something being done at the 'other end' rather than my box being at fault. Maybe something to do with i-player or freesat information?

Same thing happening on my Foxsat-HD. I guess something has changed in the broadcast data stream.

Also I've had several recordings ruined over the past 6 months by the channel scan kicking in during a timer recording (to external recorder) - if new channels are found the box reverts to channel 101. Very annoying.

Have e-mailed Humax support about it.

Just rang Humax and Freesat about this and they both said it is a known problem and should be sorted soon. The broadcaster is sending the wrong information out they said.
Hope this helps.

Three times today already and i was mulling over pressing the 'LATER' or 'NO' option..
when after a couple of seconds it merrily
RETUNES anyway..
So a very nasty option..
I'll say 'NO' next time as i cannot see much new that will require a retune soon

Looks like this in only affecting the Humax for some reason. My Grundig hasn't rescanned. Has anyone's Sagem rescanned?

My boxes have just re-scanned, getting a bit of a pain now!

Why has this not been sorted yet?

Interesting point that you observe that it is still transmitting on the original frequency. I wonder if what we are seeing is the result of channel moves following a procedure of some sort of rolling, overlapping change, to avoid interruption of output - particularly for anyone with manually tuned receivers.

Picture this sequence:
1) You start broadcasting the same channel on another frequency, the intention being that you are going to allow people manual or automatic retune time. You may even put a caption on the video due to be turned off. Some boxes will say that a channel has been added. Users will examine the lists and say "I can't see anything new". Some boxes may decide not to say anything because no new user-facing channel has been added. Internally they may have kept the original transponder details or used the new ones, it may depend on a scanned order. If it is a Freesat box it is hopefully getting told via the EPG, but for all I know the EPG may only specify the logical channels, not where to find them.

2) A day later you turn off the old service. Could the box call this a deletion? No user-facing channel has been deleted. Maybe this could be an update, if the box had needed to switch to the new frequency. If the box was already using the newer frequency then there hasn't really been an updated channel. You could argue that there has been a disturbance in the Astra firmament and call that an "update" I suppose.

This is just my speculation. Maybe someone knows whether the hypothesis fits the facts as well as the observations

So in the end we see multiple rescans because there are frequency shufflings going on. Hopefully it is to fit more stuff in, or group channels better so people with a single cable can receive more channels at the same time. I just hope it is something to benefit us consumers of Freesat.

Could be. When this started on Thursday the EPG slot for BET had no details in it. I wonder if this is related?

What is strange is that the problem seems to not effect all HDRs. ?

I have only had one retune notice, a couple of days ago.

Is it possible that these updates are downwardly cumulative, so that one in the stack gets replaced by the later version. Thus it would depend what time of day you wake up the HDR as to which update an individual box receives? Folks on holiday this week might only get one update when the come back! My own theory as posted elsewhere is that the red button person from ITV1 HD got a new job at Freesat!
