People find the strangest things to get upset about.

Some people go into Tesco in their Jim-Jams. Not really It's not really worth getting into a fankle about it.
Yes it is i have got my jim jams in a right twist over it!

I see there's been a clampdown on PJs in China, so it must be a good thing.

"There’s a gloriously eccentric habit that some Shanghai locals have that somehow appeals to British people’s love of the unconventional."

Except that it apparently doesn't...

I think the Tesco branch are right in implementing this new rule if only for hygiene reasons let alone public decency.
Take the slob Elaine Carmody for example, who know what sort of debris is lying around her lady garden if she as been soap dodging.

If someone can't be bothered to get dressed, they likely can't be bothered to wash, and very likely not after using the loo. That is offensive.
That's a bit of a random assumption. I may be taking offence because I didn't get out of my jammies on Saturday, though - it was the first day this year that I didn't have anything I had to do, so I got up late, sat on the sofa in my jammies and slanket, and watched TV and mucked about on the computer all day. And yet I still washed my hands after I went to the toilet And today I'm all showered and dressed and inoffensive

I'm with the shop on this. It's pure laziness to go out shopping in your nightwear. Unless you've only got one arm or no arms at all, it takes all of a couple of minutes to pull on a jumper/T-shirt & either a skirt or a pair of trousers/track bottoms. It shows the standards of some of the community that the store felt it necessary to put up notices in the first place. As for that woman wittering about how difficult it is to get three children ready in the morning - get up earlier!! If she thinks boycotting the shop is going to mean anything to them, she can think again. Does she really think they can't do without her pyjama-clad (& probably unwashed) self trooping among the shelves? It's a shop, not a venue for a sleepover.

The headmaster has my support too. What on earth makes people (& it's apparently mainly women) think that it's OK to turn up at the school like that? How hard can it be to get dressed? They just can't be bothered. If you don't show you've got standards, people have no reason to think you've got any.

I'm not offended in the slightest. All it does is reinforce my superiority over these uber-chavs!

I wish they would ban bare-chested men in the summer. I might accept chaps with Chippendale bods but you tend to get paunchy, sweaty ones - turns me up.

I never post news threads, but this:

A spokesman said Tesco did not have a strict dress code but it does not want people shopping in their nightwear in case it offends other customers.

Was a tad amusing...I know there are always loads of threads on this, but it's legitimised now

Will the pyjama clad customers shop elsewhere?

It gets better....

The spokesman said: "We're not a nightclub with a strict dress code, and jeans and trainers are of course more than welcome.

Welsh Tesco Store NO PJ'S PLEASE about ten thread down...

Elaine Carmody, 24, a full-time mother of two young boys, described the ban as "ridiculous" and "pathetic".

She said she had regularly gone shopping at the store in her pyjamas until about a week ago when she was turned away when she went to buy cigarettes.

She said she had been "popping in for a pack of fags," but if she had been doing a full shop "then we obviously would have gone in clothed".

"But we only wanted fags and they still refused us to go in for a pack of cigarettes," she added.

Ms Carmody, who spoke after spending £102 in the supermarket, added: "If you're allowed to wear jogging bottoms, why aren't you allowed to wear pyjamas in there, that's what I don't understand?

"I think it's stupid really not being allowed in the supermarket with pyjamas on.

"It's not as if they're going to fall down or anything like that. They should be happy because you're going to spend all that money."

She went on: "It's not as if you're making a show, if anything, they should be happy because you're spending your money in their shop, but obviously they're not, because you're not allowed in with pyjamas.

"So they're going to lose their custom, with people going to other shops to buy stuff and they're allowed in with their pyjamas on."

Quite right. Pyjamas are for sleeping in.

Only someone off their rocker would go to the supermarket in them.

I have seen this happening for a while now round here especially in the small corner shops, It always seems to be young teens and twenties Women

I thought perhaps it was a new fashion statement but to me they just look stupid!!

I did an exam at uni in my pyjamas once. I lived in on-campus accommodation. Woke up late for my exam, put on my slippers, and belted it.

I've seen it a few times at the Tesco near where I live. I suppose the store being open for 24 hours is going to attract a few weirdos. This is the same store where I saw a man dressed as Mary Poppins!
