I saw this guy and was instantly impressed - he had a great voice - natural, soulful and tuneful. I hope to see more of him in the live stages.

I hope he doesn't turn out to be like Danny Gokey last year, whose brilliant audition was the best thing he did. He oversang in every live show and didn't have much 'control'.

Anyway, yeah I like Andrew voice a lot and he seems a cool guy too.

the guy is talented, for sure. great soulful tone to his voice, and he has also shown that he can understand, arrange and play music, so he is more than just a singer. i think he will go far and will have a music career after this, regardless of how well he does on the show.

really like crystal as well.

His voice remind me of the guy that one the very first australian Idol, Guy somebody? love his voice.

I was watching AI with some friends last week and we have been humming 'Straight Up' ever since.
I really hope he does well, he has a great voice and he has said that he 'likes to play around with songs' so hopefully he has a few more tricks up his sleeve!

Not his best performance tonight - although he is still - in my opinion - miles better than most of the others. Got to say the talent in the boys this year is not great.

I can see his main competition being Casey, Alex or maybes Aaron or Jermaine.

Weird song choice, although the vocals were still good.

His last 2 performances haven't been up to his best but i'm still a fan and love his voice.

yeah, i was pleased he got through. i must say though, the james morrison song did not showcase his cool, rhythmic vocal style which sounded so great in his audition and on 'straight up'.

i actually really liked 'sugar, we're going down', even though the judges didn't, so i hope andrew can get back to that funky, cool style again next week. i know he can do it, he just needs the right song.

Completely agree. Even though the judges weren't keen on 'Sugar, Were Going Down", i really enjoyed his spin on it.

With the James Morrison song, he sung it pretty weell, but he was never going to sing it better than James Morrison who has a fantastic voice, so therefore it looked ordinary.

Hopefully he can pull something out of the bag this time

i have to say, and i feel a bit guilty about it, i'm jumping ship into the siobhan appreciation thread!

seriously though, andrew has got progressively worse since hollywood week, and i actually think last night was his worst performance! i still like the guy, but i think his unique tone works much better with just an acoustic guitar, and gets a bit lost with a full backing band. i want to the guy to do well, but he isn't rocking it at the minute.

i came across this funky, solo version of 'billie jean' on youtube, and i think this kind of thing would be perfect for andrew, maybe slowed down just a touch, as he is a better singer and guitar player than this guy. what do you think?

I agree - I think Andrew is an all round seriously talented guy. I really like him but maybe he was SO good when he did 'Straight Up' at boot camp, he created a ceiling for himself and peaked too soon?

I hope I am talking rubbish though and even though people's expectations because of that were really high and now he isn't living upto it - he pulls it back and wows us again because he definitely has the talent!
