What is the point of Spotify? when there is Youtube playlists or Media Player Playlis
Just wondered what all the hype is with Spotify? I use Youtube Playlists to play my fave tunes or mainly I play my millions of tunes on Windows Media Player Playlist. If Im out and about I use my Ipod.
Anyone else see what I mean? I cant really see it catching on for much longer maybe a passing phase? what do all you lot think? |

It can be useful for finding more obscure tracks than can be found on YouTube and the like.

I find that putting an obscure very rare tune into Spotify gets no results but with Youtube you get the tune you want

I like using it, but I wouldn't pay for it. Since I got it free then I think it's good for trying out albums before you buy and stuff, and just generally very easy to use.

Well it's a lot easier to just drag and drop a bunch of tracks from an artist's page into a Spotify playlist than to hunt down all the videos on Youtube.
Plus, every time I've tried to put together a Youtube playlist, at least one of the videos has ended up being taken down. |

also most of Youtube's audio is encoded at a low quality or ripped off tv - all of Spotify is at least 192kbps, and of course on premium it's CD quality

Fair do's, are these well known tunes? stuff I listen to is never listed I dont tend to find it very user friendly either, perhaps Ive got used to youtube for so long now but I dunno it just provides more choice and does have HQ settings for maximum effect

What sets it head and shoulders above YouTube for me, is its "collaborative playlist" feature. I have several setup with friends where we take it in turns adding a few tracks. I've discovered some great artists/songs via this.
Not to mention better audio quality, better categorisation of artists/songs, artist biographies, artist recommendations, album artwork... the list goes on. Spotify has completely changed the way I listen to music. I barely even touch mp3s anymore. Admittedly, their catalog isn't as vast as YouTube's, but they're always increasing it on a weekly basis. Most (non-mainstream) artists I like are now on there. |
