Trying here to create a list of all the women Fred has proposed to. I know there are a fair few...

• Maureen Holdsworth (married)
• Audrey Roberts
• Eve Sykes (married)
• Doreen Heavey
• Penny King

Can anyone think of any more...? I'm sure I've missed a few.

Fred is funny enough as a friend, and he's a soft touch too, but when they realise at some point they'll find themselves under his huge carcass, they have all backed out.

Awwww i think Freds lovely. He might have a gut the size of a small US State, but he has a good heart, a good sense of humour - and lots of money in the bank. Oh, and you would never again have to buy steak in the supermarket

Buy steak .... form a Supermarket ?? I say a Supermarket .... Fred Elliot wouldnt hear of it, buy it from the butchers not that shrink wrapped shrivelled tat the sell in the Supermarket ! I think it would probably be grounds for divorce - buying supermarket steak ... that is if anyone actually did marry him !

It was a butchers shop ... that was situated in a supermarket.

The point is it was still a butchers selling fresh meat, and not pre packed tat although I am not sure they had pigeons for sale when it was part of Freshco's

What happened between Fred and the character played by Maureen Lipman? I remember just before she left he either proposed or wanted to start something up.

Yeah I think you're right - he did propose to Lillian Spencer who was played by Maureen Lipman, which was what drove her away. She was only there for a couple of weeks because of Julie Goodyear's (Bet Gilroy) breakdown from exhaustion from acting.

Yea, Lillian was quite an amusing character though, with that bird of hers!

Yeah and refusing to shorten names: "It's not Lily!"
No wonder she was scared away if Fred proposed though.

So how many has he proposed to in total? I keep getting thrown off because I'm not sure whether to count Rita or not.. Did that really happen?

I've heard many rumours that he did but I don't remember it at all. So far (excluding Rita) we've got to 6, including 2 he got married to. I think it seems like there are more because he proposed to some of them lots of times.

Ah, so Fred tends to get it right a third of the time then! I'm surprised he hasn't proposed to Bev yet, after all even though she does his bald head in, he did confide in her about the marry-pennyking-campaign.. Although ya never know, he still might!

Yeah I thought he might have - I knew he had proposed to someone's mum - but then I remembered it was Maxine's mum Doreen Heavey.

Yup, and she was one of the few to accept and become engaged to Fred.. for a few hours anyway!

Yep lol and then she remembered and Maxine was absolutely disgusted lmao. She must have been very drunk at the time.

100% intoxicated! I'm surprised she could even slur together two words of agreement!

Yes, I thought he did.

If he didn't and I was Rita I'd be a bit miffed!

Didn't they also try (and fail) to sell kangaroo steaks?

Sex with Fred Elliott ... shudder

He can be a bit of a bully at times can our Fred. I don't think I'd fancy it even if I could get over my initial revulsion.
