Good news ITV1 HD now works as it should. I wonder if someone else makes it and Harvard just stick the Grundig labels on since it seems to be a good few quality levels above the other boxes
. Could you possibly test to see if you can view red button channels in non freesat mode- the BBC sport and music/other extra programme content screens are on 12441V, BBC NEWS multiscreen on 11954H, ITV interactive on 12402V? |

It is not clear from your review whether you can set series timers within the EPG, or do you have to edit the timers for series recording?
BTW I think the Humax has had the facility to copy to an external HDD since launch, not as your review implies after a recent update. |

As for series link, you set this up in the Library by pressing the green button. Works just as well, cos' its only a button press away from the EPG page so no big deal. GG |

Has anyone experienced loss of video & sound with only menus remaining?
This requires a power off/on to recover Is there a way to sort the library? Mine seems to be sorted by date rather that viewed, recorded and scheduled.

My Library goes from the top as Viewed, recorded, scheduled. GG |

I am honestly not sure about this. Why not give Grundig helpline a ring and ask them if it will work with just one LNB feed? Number is 08712304695
GG I phoned the helpline and they said it will work in the same way as the Humax (I am paraphrasing their comments) But it would still be good if someone can test it out |

After reading the reviews from Grannygrunt and Trusted Reviews, I decided to purchase the Grundig GUFSDTR500. What a wise decision!
The picture quality compared to my Humax Foxsat-HDR is so much better-so good the Hummy is about to be placed on ebay. HD pictures on the Grundig are sharp and have great depth, and SD is clear with natural colours. The programme guide is more attractive and informative than the Humax, and the sound quality is excellent. So, well done Grundig in bringing out a great machine!

I love it, it has recorded everything I have set it.NOTE bampsam, about the ITV HD and the included memo. You can ignore it as Scheduled recording from the EPG works! Just choose 'Always Ask' from the settings in the menu, then when you want to record something from ITV HD, click record, the pop up with give you the choice of SD or HD, so choose HD. Now don't be put off because the RED R doesn't appear, just go and look in the schedules in the Library and voila! Your recording will be there. Then you can set up your series if it has one. Glad you are happy with it. GG |

Richard it probably warns you but I will try this out for you if you like (as I never use padding myself.
2. Power cuts. Because someone else on here has been on about the Humax ditching any scheduled recording following a power cut, I did try this out. I unplugged the unit about 10 minutes before a recording was due to start, left it a few minutes, then plugged back in. The recording took place, but I will test this again for you and report back. GG Did you unplug the unit whilst it was on or in stanby. As with the Humax if the power goes and it is switch on fully then the recordings do take place. mastanlem |

Each lasting only a few seconds but long enough to switch off. We had about three instances in a very short time period. The Grundig completely recovered each time and had not lost any scheduled recordings due to take place later. GG |

No mastanlem, it was in standby. And judging by some Humax owners who have complained about this, they are worried if there was a power cut whilst they were away on holiday when obviously the unit would be left in Standby and not switched on. I have tested this with the Grundig as have others, and your scheduled recordings including any due shortly still take place.

Well, this box does seem to good to miss! I've always steered clear of the Alba/Goodmans/Grundig stuff but this box does seem different. Two quick q's please:
1) Could someone kindly post the Grundig helpline number please? I just wanted to check something about the external PSUs they use before I buy. 2) Where to buy? The likes of Argos, Currys etc. don't seem to stock the box. The only high street retailer that I've found so far is Comet and they want GBP299 for it! TIA Clem |

To confirm the Grundig has similar capability to the hdr can someone try this out please ?
Start recording BBC HD 108), start a 2nd recording of Ch 951 (BBC 1 CI). Now tune to any other channel (try 691) and press pause. If you can't tune any other channel and pause it live it's not going to work on one cable like the hdr |

It is possible, but you will only be able to record the programme you are watching and will not be able to use the full features of your freesat+ recorder. http://www.grundigdigital.co.uk/down...TR500HD_IM.pdf |

I think that, for me, the loss of a useable USB interface would be the main disadvantage of the Grundig compared to my Humax HDR.
Potentially the handling of non-Freesat channels sounds like a big plus for the Grundig, but could someone with the unit confirm whether, having added Non Freesat Channels for a particular transponder, it is possible to delete unwanted channels and can you re-arrange them? Having taken Channel list >> >> Manual Channels option and selected a non-freesat channel, is it possible to continue viewing a non-freesat channel when a scheduled freesat recording activity starts? The Grannygrunt review states "The unit just takes a few seconds to boot up from standby". Since the recent Humax firmware upgrade, the boot time on my HDR has been reduced to about 15 seconds. Is the Grundig noticeably faster than this (10 secs, 5 secs...)? I find that browsing the Humax EPG can be jerky. Is the Grundig better in this respect? How fast is EPG population when moving between genres using the << and >> keys? |
