Hi there, I only have a 1.5mbps connection here, but i'd love to have BT vision for the bedroom.. just a quick question

Does the bitrate alter itself to your connection speed similar to what IPlayer does now?

I'm not fussed about Hd content as I have satellite for that in the livingroom...

The main thing I would like it for is because it has a nice selection of programs from BBC Iplayer, ITV Player, 4od etc...

Thats all i really want it for... if my 1.5mbps isnt fast enough, is there another similar sort of box/service that i could get to suit my needs?

I would just buy an Acer Revo... £149 from ebuyer, built in wireless etc. Watch everything including Youtube and Skyplayer even...

BTV needs 2mb conx so unlikely BT would sell you it.

Don't even bother.

Skyplayer is utter shite, it will keep on buffering regardless of your speed!

I had 6.3 sync speed here and I couldn't watch the england cricket. just kept buffering.

Be careful though .... BT will try to sell you BT vision even if your line is not fast enough for it. Same happened to my sister ... they are still having to pay for an unusable and unwatchable service ... they went through months of grief with BT.

Thats odd. BT usually check you Line's capability on their database and won't let you have BT Vision unless the line can take it. The reason being that a slow line means that subscribers can take advantage of the free parts of BT Vision (PVR capability) and not buy the chargeable parts - VoD. Many people have complained about that policy here in the past. Are you sure that the line isn't running slowly due to a fault.

Yeah this is what happened to us as well - we don't even get 1MB speed but got BT Vision - we're now out of contract on it so there's now no monthly subscription so we just use the BTV box for Freeview and for recording.

It is frustrating we can't get the other services though, the on demand and BBC iplayer etc was something we really wanted to have.

We can't get Virgin here yet but as soon as it's available we'll go with that to get faster broadband and better TV services.

Have you investigated the accelerator plate that BT is advertising at the moment?

Or cut the ring wire which achieves EXACTLY the same effect as an iPlate.
