Started right at the beginning in the car, when the main character's wife saw the thing, then when she was in the hospital and she said to him "there's something really wrong with me". Chilled me. The rest wasnt much better, loved the movie, didnt love the after effects! |

However, knowing her drinking habits whilst on any kind of holiday, even, you know, like a bank holiday weekend, I really have my doubts.

Great thread!
The Alcatraz escape. Did they make it to land or did they drown? Everything else that baffles me has already been mentioned as well as a few others I didn't know about, some of it is a bit eerie but it's been a great read. |

Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870
Probably the most mysterious passenger jet crash in history. It's notable for the way NATO have tried not to help with the investigation. The plane exploded in mid air in 1980 on a flight path surrounded by NATO radar installations and ships. No-one officially saw anything unusual despite the fact radar activity was off the scale that day. Some Italian radar operators however told relatives something dramatic happened and then they start dying one by one. Italian investigator in 1999 concluded that a NATO - Libya air battle took place. Denied by NATO and Libya. Case reopened in 2008. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2006...dispatch.italy |

The SETI Wow! signal.
The only documented signal (1977) from deep space ever received that exhibited characteristics of artificial extraterrestrial origin. Was the inspiration for the novel (and film) Contact. Subsequent searches have failed to find it and it remains unexplained. |

Two unsolved murders that have happened near where I live, Karen Hales in 1993 and Vicky Hall in 1999.
Both listed on this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...United_Kingdom |

Yeah, I mentioned Marian apparitions earlier in the thread. Intriguing stuff! Dunno anything, really, about Mothman Prophecies. I sometimes call my spaniel 'spring heeled Jack' because he has this amazing capacity to disappear and rappear in impossible places and bounces like a good 'un!

The Marian/Fatima apparaitions are the subject of a book I've just read called The Third Secret by Steve Berry, which is fascinating.

I remember back in the 1970`s it was on John Cravens Newsround about Travis Walton (His story was filmed as `Fire in the Sky`)
It`s still sticks in my mind over 30 years later. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travis_Walton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_in_the_Sky |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Winchester
Not so such a mystery, but a bit of an eye opener. This woman built a building 24/7 everyday for 38 years. Sarah Winchester was told, after losing her daughter and then later her husband it was a curse because of all the Wincherster guns that had killed other people. She then had to keep building all the time or she would die.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dy0TnZ_vpk First bit of youtube is interesting, I would love to visit the house. They say even her workers had to have a map to know where they were? ![]() Plus. great thread, now I have posted on it, easier to find. |

After reading up on the Roland Carnaby case, it seems there's too much evidence to prove he wasn't connected with the CIA or any US Government agency at all. As someone put it (at the time), it seemed he was just a guy with a "very overactive fantasy life". I admit, some of the facts in the case are a bit vague but it appears Carnaby (or whoever he really was) was nothing more than a Walter Mitty like character.
