Hmm...your thinking's going in the right direction, but there's work to be done yet

I really struggle to find anything to like about Emily on the ice, apart from her pro partner. She's slow, wobbly, clunky, has no connection with Fred and looks all the time like the cogs are turning in her brain. 'Right...next move...step left, step right, crossover...'. Off the ice she seems like a pleasant enough girl, but she's got no performance spark at all.

Emily is cute, not beautiful, also she is very lack lustre and poor skater. Freds best partner that I have seen him with was Zahara (didn't watch before that series) and I think coming in late hampered her progression.

I absolutely agree. I'm very disappointed she's not still in, as I had a huge crush on her, even if her skating wasn't good.

She reminds me of Roxanne from last year!

Thought she came across as a lovely girl, eager to please and was, on quite a few occassions, extremely undermarked - (her Genie in a Bottle routine and 50's one spring to mind).

I wouldnt call Roxanne "vile", but she didnt have the best of attitudes did she? Didn't like the criticism at all, far too used to getting her own way on the basis of her looks imo.

Roxanne was not bad at the old skating lark. I felt (just my own opinion) that she was often undermarked, and had reason to challenge some of the judges' comments. Emily comes across as sulky, rather than feisty - "Oh, why are my scores so low?!" Come on - Robin gave you a 3!

Exactly. This thread isn't especially bad, but even it would not exist if it weren't for her looks.

But what surprised me last night was how negative so many comments were about Tana. I think it clearly went beyond anything that could be explained by her skating or performance, especially when compared to the comments about others.

Now that Tana's out, I think Emily will be top of the target list.

Your theory here is a bit flawed. Emily is a very pretty girl and an appalling skater/ice dancer who somehow is surviving the public vote even though, so far, she's always been down at the bottom of the leader board.

So if the majority of voters are female they must be voting for her so not intimidated by her.

Personally, I'm not voting for her because she's rubbish!

Emily is better than Coleen and (so far as I know) hasn't appeared on Loose Women campaigning for votes, hasn't been whining about how she's trying (as if others aren't and as if that's how she should be judged), and hasn't been playing the "judges are so mean" card all over the place.

But, sure, criticism of Emily is ok. What's no ok is when it's tied to her looks or is because of a double standard that involves looks.

She is very mediocre but not appallingly bad; so she should have been in the skate-off by now. So, her cuteness might have something to do with the public vote keeping her in because people (men ?) want to see her pretty face regardless of how good or bad a skater she is.

You're oversimplifying.

That the majority are female doesn't mean there aren't plenty of male voters; and the female ones won't all think the same. It might be that older female voters have a problem with Emily while younger ones don't, for example.

Emily is young, cute and pretty (when she's not pouting) with a nice figure. However, I would, by no stretch of the imagination, call her beautiful. Tana probably has the most classically attractive face, but I would say Sinitta (who?) was the most attractive of this year's bunch of females. I thought Sinitta had more to give as well.

BTW I'm a middle aged heterosexual female. Don't feel its sour grapes, almost because although I wouldn't describe myself as ugly, I've never been a great beauty, so I don't particuarly hark back to my youth, and am pleased that my daughters are beautiful. Perhaps more objective because I don't really care....lol!!

emily is cute. She is also petulant, lazy, immature and looks like got her status from her mom. Having seen skins, if she had to come from nowhere, she wouldn't even have got an audition. However, this has nothing to do with her skating - just questioning her celebrity status. Her skating is half hearted and lacklustre. But she is by no means the worse girl. Tana was.

I assumed the 'cuteness' the OP was referring to was with regards to Emily's character.

Anyway, I don't believe Emily has demonstrated more skill than Coleen so far. She doesn't skate unassisted (something Coleen was also guilty of) and she made a major mistake this week.

I actually think Coleen was a better performer too. She could sell a routine even if it was skated poorly.

I actually think Emily and Colleen are on a par. Colleen used the overstretched mum and career woman, trying to fit in DOI training to solicit votes; Emily uses the pout and cuteness to do exactly the same thing.

She was in Inbetweeners not Skins and if she wanted to ride on the coat-tails of her mother and the Robbins name she would have used it rather than sticking to her father's name


I think nerves play a big part in why she's so poor in the live show tweets from Fred and comments from Chris & Jayne on shows or their Twitter make it sound like she's doing well but it jus doesn't happen on a Sunday

We seem to be bumping into each other all over the place lately Ignazio (not that I'm complaining!).

Neither Emily nor Coleen flick my switch. I find them both equally annoying and weak.

What a strange assumption! As if anyone would have thought she was "cute" in that (much less common) sense if she'd been ugly.

BTW, I don't think I have ever heard or read a character (as opposed to, say, some mannerisms) described as cute.
