The scores combined
This may well have been answered before.
We are told that the panel scores are combined with the public votes. Do we know how much weight is placed on the panel scores? Is it 50 - 50 ? |

Thanks. It more or less means that those who score very badly have a big mountain to climb to get through
![]() My probem is that the judges scores vary so much for each contestant As long as each judge is marking each couple fairly in relation to other couples they've scored, then it's fine. |

It might just be that the judge's benchmarks are be different.
As long as each judge is marking each couple fairly in relation to other couples they've scored, then it's fine. But they aren't and there lieth the problem

Tonight would have been like this from the judges-
Hayley - 11 points Mikey - 10 points Danniella - 9 points Gary - 8 points Danny - 7 points Kieron - 6 points Sharron - 6 points Heather - 4 points Tana - 3 points Dr Hilary - 2 points Emily - 1 point So the public must have rated Danny lowest or 2nd lowest I would have thought. And Emily and Dr Hilary must have been in the Top 4 with the public |

They were a bit off tonight.
Even the ever reliable Robin messed up (but fessed up too which is good - at least he recognised his error). What other relative scores from a particular judge did you disagree with? underscoring of Kieron, If Robin said he'd overmarked then they should have reduced the score. They did the other week with Emma. I think Nicky is being really erratic with his scoring this year. |

Not sure why Daniella doesn't get more. She has minor errors but they give her more to do which makes it happen. Kieron might deserve more i thought , Mikey less. They didn't reduce Emma's score - she corrected it to what she intended - or so we were told. Robin didn't say he was wrong but that he had been generous which is what will happen decidingbetween 2.5 or 3. - he had a reason in that she had done the turn better. The marks starting 1 were arguably too low anyway, so the result blanced out. Nicky I agree is erratic. The answer I think is usually with Robin or Emma - Karen is too gentle, Jason is too nitpicking and has pet dislikes and Nicky is just bizarre. |

Hayley is much better than anyone else. Whether that equals a score of 24 or 20 is luck who gives what between 4 and 5 .

I do wonder how the third person in the bottom 3 is chosen. Is it someone who the production team feel need more votes? Is it the person who is actually third bottom? Is it the person who's finished top overall so they don't get over confident (it must be hard being in the bottom 3, even if your position could be anyone on the leaderboard outside the bottom 2)? Or a mix...it'd be interesting to know how they're selected.

Hayley was great, but should have been marked a bit less because of her mistakes on the required element, only fair.
Gary also should have been marked way less because of his mistakes which were quite bad and largely ignored. |

Hayley had already lost some half marks deducted for that in her mark if Karen is to be believed - you could easily argue for 24 or 24.5 or 22.5-23. Somehow they have to allow too for content or they end up giving her (and Daniella) much more to do and remember and they could only get less for it as mistakes become more likely. If you think that was a 25 or 26 max routine she gets 23.5 out of 26 - if Mikey's was a 22 routine by comparison he is never going to get to her score. Not sure what tariff Daniella is doing - Nicky implied its high tariff and she is losing the odd bit of a mark here and there for minor presentation and errors - presume thats what he meant by your marks would shoot up (if she got it completely right)
She was damn good though so maybe

Just out of interest, I don't think they allowed for difficulty and content with Danny last week. What do you think?

Rigged voting?

I begin to believe that it is rigged by the producers to maintain interest in the programme. e.g. "Let's keep Heather in until at least the last 4 or 5 because the majority will tune in hoping to see her kicked out, and make sure that at least one from the top half is in the skate off. Nothing keeps the viewers coming quite like annoying the hell out of them." Or am I just being cynical in my old age? |

I've done this sort of calculation myself, with previous series and other similar programmes such as Strictly, and have come to the conclusion that the voting public, and the judges for that matter, apart from the result of the skate off, have little or no influence over who goes and who stays. I have calculated in the past that it was impossible for "X" to be in the drop zone only to find that they were.
I begin to believe that it is rigged by the producers to maintain interest in the programme. e.g. "Let's keep Heather in until at least the last 4 or 5 because the majority will tune in hoping to see her kicked out, and make sure that at least one from the top half is in the skate off. Also, Heather would have only had to be 8th with the public yesterday and Danny last for her to avoid the skate off. Not impossible as Danny's routine was forgettable and he was mid table. |
