From the Daily Mirror:

Quote:
“ Some even set up an online petition on website Digital Spy, demanding that he be sacked. One fan, called ‘captain’, said: “It’s about time that he was flushed off the show for crossing the line. Never liked the guy anyway but enough is enough. They can find somebody better.”

Another member called ‘number six’ said “the man is vile!” while one called Darcy said: “Every year Jason takes a real dislike to a few of the contestants and then gives them hell. If he cannot change then throw him out".”

Although I think that he went OTT last week.

However I have also watched the version of dancing on ice in another country where all the judges were 'nice' and technical specialists - it was really really boring and a huge turn off - Dancing on Ice was cancelled after one season.

I think he should go.

He is supposed to be the 'nasty one' but there is nasty AND constructive .... and then there is plain nasty and spiteful.

I had a grudging respect for him before, but all that has gone out the window. My mouth was literally hanging open in shock when he said what he did to Sharon.

He has just made an apology to Sharron and the viewers on This Morning.

I am so glad he did. Good for him. Let him be careful next time. So please, no more baying for his blood. He publicly apologised and that should be enough.

Nobody is saying that everyone has to be nice. In fact, Nicky, Emma and even Robin on occasion have said things that are not particularly pleasant hearing for the celebrities in question.

But there is no way that the levels of nastiness Jason exhibits, particularly when they have nothing to do with the performance, can continue to go unchecked. It is a poor example to the family audience the show is aiming at, putting what is nothing short of bullying on television.

I think I'll go to OFCOM.

Count me in as well.

But I don't think he should be replaced with a celebrity I think they should find a professional ice dancing judge or ex-judge. It doesn't have to be someone well known after all no one outside the dancing world had heard of Len Goodman before SCD.

absolutely not signing. Jason gives the most pointers for improvement, but he can't win... even when he says someone has got better the audience starts booing, it's so annoying.

The fecal matter comment was a step too far and he's apologised. End of story.

I dunno what show you're watching, but I've only seen the one where every thing that celebrities could potentially improve is delivered as a snidey comment. The one where not a word about how they might achieve better leg lines or arm movements is mentioned. The one where it's OK to attack people for their outfit or their physique, rather than anything they've done right or wrong on the ice.

It's nice to know that Jason has a fan though. It gives me hope that even that level of skin-waste can still be made to feel like a valuable, useful human being.

I'll sign. I want him sacked because he is and has always been a rubbish judge

Sign me up please. He is a desperate wannabe. I am sick of his personal attacks. I can remember in series one telling Kelly holmes she looked like a man in drag, or words to that effect. That has nothing to do with her skating. Its not all about him, he is a vile man.

Once upon a time, he was constructive in a rather flowery way. But now it's beyond a joke. All he needs to do is say 'Your arms need to be straighter' 'You need to to turn out ur legs' . Rtahern then dress it up in ridiculous metaphors.
Enough is enough.
Get him replaced, or sew a zip on his mouth.

Sined, with pleasure. Simon Cowell does some straight talking when it's necessary, but this Jason bloke is nasty just for the sake of being nasty. His apology cuts no ice with me, as it is not sincere and has only been made because it was forced out of him.
he will carry on his vitriol until he is made to see that it won't be tolerated - and I can't see ITV getting rid of him.
It seems to me that in every series, he has picked on one or two people to aim his venom at, and he uses it to 'entertain' the public. His victims should do something, and all the contestants should threaten to walk out unless he goes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - every panto needs its villain and Gardiner is a darned good one.

These pampered celebs have probably had to deal with worse than him in their time - showbiz is a very, very bitchy industry after all. I'm quite sure that when they signed on the dotted line and picked up their rather fat fee that they realised they would have to contend with the token baddie. They probably all kiss each other's backsides behind the scenes anyway.

Leave Gardiner where he is, he's the only reason I'm tuning in at the mo!

Stupid typo. It should have been, "signed, not sined"

One of Ofcom's tasks is to investigate complaints from viewers.

Comedy villainy is one thing. Remarks that come across as blatant bullying are another, because of the horrific example they set to all sorts of people - potentially young viewers who might be inspired to copy it, older viewers who don't want their tellies clogged up with snide comments about someone's shape or outfit when they tuned in for some skating, TV companies who think that nobody will watch if you don't give viewers a figure to hate.

I can say 100% that I don't and never would tune in for Jason, and I suspect, Love Bear, that being a sensible type like you are, that's not really the reason you tune in either.

What I suspect the above demonstrates is that most people see a show called Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice and think 'oh, that should be interesting, T&D and some skating, maybe some famous people etc'. They don't think 'oh good, there's an opportunity to watch an overpaid idiot make personal and rude remarks about people who signed up to do some skating and hopefully get better at it with some constructive advice.'

People DO NOT WATCH DOI for Jason Gardiner. I don't know what would happen to the show if he left, but I'm pretty certain it wouldn't collapse and die.

The remarks made to Sharron Davies in particular were grossly insulting and degrading. That is not a trivial matter. There should be no route back from publicly insulting and humiliating someone in such a manner simply via issuing a glib and insincere apology. He should either resign or be sacked.

As Ive said I though Jason's comments were totally out of order on Sunday

However if I were Sharon I would also be upset with the stylist who keeps choosing these horrible costumes - I know she used to be a swimmer but does she have to wear a swimming costume every week - she is wonderfully tall and could wear something really stylish
