Agree. Now the gorgeous Jeremy has gone, she is the skater I look forward to the most.

Well no it wouldn't, because Heather's not paraplegic.

It would have to be DOI for people with disabilities , but even then it wouldn't be a level playing field. I have nerve damage in one leg and have difficulty walking. I doubt I could even stand in skates as I have to wear flat shoes all the time. I don't know if a wheelchair user could get onto the ice at all, and what about someone who was profoundly deaf, but able to use all their limbs normally? Or someone who was disabled by severe depression? (Obviously they'd have to try to find the motivation to do it in the first place, and not let any negative comments get to them.)
Would these people have an advantage over someone like Heather?

How she seem to be percieved on this forum I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

I do wonder who is voting for her because no-one I know likes her. The sceptic in me says she's paying those on her payroll to hit the redial button many times over.

Maybe with heather doing doi might change people minds about her!! She is doing well on the program it's self but does she have to keep mention the leg

I mentioned on a similar thread that she should stop going on about the leg-and there seemed to be much support for her and said leg on that thread? Fickle lot!

As long as she stays in on the basis of merit, not on the basis of sympathy, or admiration of how she manages to skate with an artifical leg, I don't really mind. She's not a bad dancer or skater.

Absolutely.

I wish people would give Heather a break. Why do people keep being horrible to her, and yet constantly fawn over her former partner, Paul McCartney? Nobody knows what their marriage was really like. For all we know, he may have done and said the things she accused him of. Just because he was a Beatle, it doesn't mean that he was the completely innocent party.

By now we all know she has an artificial leg and the problems it causes...they have been more than well documented.

BUT..if you sign up to do DOI it has to be a level playing field and unless you are considered to be the same as all the other contestants then should be on 'DOI for People With Physical
Disabilities'

When I watch Heather I can see that she has an artificial limb and that her skating and performance is geared around that as I'm sure the judges do too and consider that in their marks and comments.”

I quite agree.

You're told to cheer/clap loudly but it seemed difficult for the audience to sustain that for her for any length of time.

Many people that I was chatting to in and around the rink and outside the studio seemed to think that they would rather see her in a "special paraplegic DOI series" so every contestant taking part has a disability, which would even the playing field.

I know that Strictly Come Dancing has a sort of spin off show coming soon - Dancing on Wheels for wheelchair dancers and don't see why DOI couldn't do the same - although obviously not for wheelchair users. Would be a bit difficult taking a wheelchair out onto the ice.”

How bloody patronising: she is putting on a better show than many of the other fully able bodied performers, and with a whole lot less whining!

Heather Mills put herself in this competition. It does seem an odd thing for a person lacking the lower half of a leg to do - complete in dancing/skating shows with able bodied people. (She isn't going to perform as well - so she relies on the sympathy of viewers - which isn't fair to the other, better performers).

She has stated that she wants to be treated "no differently" to the other competitors: but I think she well knows she will NOT be treated like the other performers - she hoped to get, and is getting, the sympathy vote from viewers.

I thought she was one of the worst performers in the last show, and should have been in the dance off.

I can't see her lasting much longer in the show as the performances are expected to reach a higher and higher level.

Personally, I think she is doing better than other performers (Dr Hilary for example!). Your argument would lead to disabled people doing nothing - always just saying able bodied people are going to be better.

It is so funny how people claim she is getting the sympathy vote and she is hated......maybe those two things are cancelling each other out and she is just getting votes from people who like to see her performing on the show?

I'm not exactly a fan of Heather but I did feel even before the series started that she would at least put in the effort and work at it, unlike Coleen Nolan last year who did nothing but moan and whine and whinge, and she's proven me right on that. Focusing on her solely as a contestant on DOI and ignoring everything else, I'd far rather watch Heather skate than Coleen or Roxanne Pallett or one or two others I could mention.

(It's possible she is). She does spend money like water - and her bank account does by all accouts, seem to be much reduced. But how much of this spending benefits her charities? She apparently spent £250k on a holiday on Knecker for herself and a group of employees. That money would have been better spent being placed in the bank account of the landmines charity rather than wasted on another ego-massaging spree.

In her own mind, Heather is the toughest, brightest, most hard working star in the universe - and she wants this confirmed on shows like Dancing on Ice or Dancing with the Stars.

But how much leeway are the judges giving her - taking account of her disability? She has stated she wants to be treated no differently to anyone else. She knows full well this will not happen.

She is getting the sympathy vote. Generally, she is not liked: but people are seeing her perform and refer constantly to her injuries, her false leg, the fact that she is an "inspiration" (so she claims) to other disabled people and are drawn into that.

She can't possibly do as well as any of the other able bodied skaters, including Dr Hilary, because she hasn't got two legs. I question why any normal person would put themselves in that position - competing against able bodied people in the full knowledge that they are trading on their disability.

She'll work hard yes. Don't forget she is doing this for Heather. She wants to persuade people that she is a wonderful, hardworking, charitable, selfless person - her own ego drives everything she does.

I don't care why she's doing it. Regardless of her reasons, I'd still rather watch someone who makes an effort and is is able to have a giggle during practice than watch someone who does nothing but moan and complain, like Coleen.

In those leaked divorce papers she came off a whole lot worse than him (although that clearly wasn`t the intention).
