I want a Lynx
Can anyone direct me to where I can buy a Lynx cat?
I really want one or two as I love cats to the point of obsession and I really want one of those beautiful creatures. |

Do you have the facilities to keep a Lynx?
They'd need quite a large enclosure - I'd think half an acre minimum. Plenty of tree cover. And what would you feed it? Do you have a regular supply of fresh killed rabbit/chicken/lamb etc? They are a hefty cat so would probably need the equivalent of half a lamb a day. Do you have the specialist knowledge to care for a Lynx? Are you willing to be part of the captive breeding program and able to facilitate this? As a wild animal, you would also need a license. Can you meet the requirements of the license? Honestly, leave Lynx keeping to the experts. They are not a pet. |

If you just want a natural looking big cat with ear tufts, a Maine coon fits the bill. Has the added bonus of having a large duster attached to it's bum.

I thought this would be a Moila thread at first. Quote:

This thread reminds me of two from last year: The "where can I buy a cat" and the "Where can I buy a monkey". I'll find them later.
Where can I buy a monkey? Where do you buy a cat? |

Where can I buy a monkey? Where do you buy a cat? "where can I buy a monkey" is one of my all time favourite threads! A pet lynx is really useful if you're planning an illegal fight with 'White Fang'. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. |

In fairness to the OP, could she possibly be referring to either the Norwegian Forest Cat, also known as the Cat Lynx or perhaps the Desert Lynx, (although they seem to be in America), or even the colouring on various Himalayans as opposed to a LYNX
![]() Fingers crossed that she is and even if not there are some beautiful cats there to look at...

Ours are outdoor cats, but we live in the sticks. I suppose cat theft might be an issue in an urban area. But no other reason not to let them out, they have serious coats, and are bold, active animals. Mine bring home ground based wildlife, but they are not well suited to climbing. They will run down a squirrel if they catch it in the open, and rats and rabbits also. No birds as yet, though not from lack of interest. They have so much energy I cannot imagine keeping them shut inside. Our girl kitten has just been spayed, and had to be indoors for 10 days. She'd really had enough by the time the stitches were out. Normally they'd spend 4-6 hours outdoors every day, though less in the snow, in spite of their big, tufted paws and thick coats. Wimps. They are still essentially duvet based whenever possible. |

I had a Maine Coon cat, and he was as soft as a brush. Slept most of the time, lazy lump! lol.
I didn't have him from a kitten, (long story, but I'll keep it short) About 5/6 Decembers back, this rather large teddy bear started to come into my house, as we're rural, I asked around the village, to see if anyone knew who he belonged too. No one did. I wondered if he'd been dumped in our area, so after a couple of weeks of getting to know the cat, and earn his trust, I managed to coax him into a cat basket, and took him to my Vet. They checked him out, and discovered (via the chip) that his name was Matty (very apt, given the state of his coat) and that he came from Worcester. I live just south of Telford in Shropshire, so Teddy (as he was then affectionately called) had been on rather a long walk. After many phone calls to Vets in his original area, I managed to trace his owners. He'd been missing for over three years. They said, he'd been placed with them via the rspca, as he was more of a feral cat, than a tame house cat. The former owners, had since moved and had now got dogs, so it was decided that he should stay with me. He became part of our family, and we like to think that he felt safe with us, as; despite what his previous owners said, about him not being a cat who would sit on your lap and wasn't that bothered about being fussed, he'd curl up beside me, and purr his heart out. Loved a cuddle, and being brushed. He became a softie! lol We had to let him go about two years ago, as old age started to overcome him. I still miss him and his gigantic paws, bless him. Matty |

They are North American farm cats, treat them as any other cat. Though as a waggish friend of mine said, on 1st sight of Leo, my boy...., 'You're gonna need a bigger catflap!'
