New Mid-week chart show to broadcast on Radio 1 every Wednesday!
For the first time, the UK mid-week charts are to be broadcast on Radio 1 every Wednesday between 3.30pm and 4pm according to this BBC article...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/mu...0/10056409.stm This is great news I think and not before time an official mid-week music chart was launched. |

I can't see much point in it. So we will hear where songs are going on Wednesday, which means that by Sunday we can probably guess what's going to happen, with no big surprises. It will ruin some of the anticipation, and we do have midweeks anyway. And 3:30 - 4 seems a strange time.

You could always avoid the Radio 1 website until the Sunday if you didn't want to know the mid-week chart positions. The thing is though, the mid-week charts are only a 'rough' idea of what is likely to be number 1 on the Sunday and there are 3 more full days sales after Wednesday so the final chart results will probably change drastically anyway. Just nice to get a rough idea

Yeah I see what you mean about a mid-week chart ruining the anticipation, but the article says that the mid-week charts have been available for years but only to people working in the music industry. I think it's only fair the public also have the chance to view this mid-week chart as well.

The public can already see midweeks from Tuesday to Friday anyway, on DS and Buzzjack, amongst others. Remember the Christmas no.1 battle last year? The midweeks were everywhere in the media that week. They are still available to see every week for those that want to (although not usually between Christmas and new year).

Ah right, I didn't realise the mid weeks where available here on DS
![]() That's why I don't see much point in this new midweek Radio 1 show!
