He still insisted he was commenting on the dancing, not on Sharon per se. He was commenting on what she wears, though not directly on Sharon personally, had nothing to do with the choreography he was supposed to be judging on.

Well, at least, he tried to apologise. And I hope subsequently he will watch what he says on television, esp. if it's a family-orientated one.

Exactly. Poor excuse for an apology. He's clearly not sorry and doesn't give a toss.

He didn't try much though.

I don't think he was just commenting on the costume otherwise he'd just say that she looked like poo - what would the fact that it was going round and round and wouldn't flush got to do with how she looked. Last time I looked when I flush the loo there was no magical transformation of its contents - now that would be interesting - the sewers could be blocked with gold lame if that happened I definitely think he meant Sharron and her dancing.

I get the feeling that he's realised what a fuss he's caused but doesn't feel an ounce of remorse for it.

That said I think Sharron should have just walked over and lamped him on the spot. Frankie would have held him down

Good call. That'd stop him being ridiculous

Exactly. It was not just a comment on her costume. Sure, the costume's colour played a part in his choice of imagery, but he then used it as a description of her whole performance.

...

BTW, it's being treated (spun) as people being offended. I wasn't offended, and I don't think he should be sacked just for the remark. I think he should be sacked because he's a poor judge who is out of his depth and tries to disguise that by being obnoxious.

Too little to late.

I am no longer watching while that poor excuse for a human being is being paid to insult people.

You can be critical in a constructive way without the personal insults, he lets himself down really as when hes being constructive his criticisms are worth taking onboard. Seems to like going for the cheap shots though.

His lame excuse is trying to close the door after the horse has bolted

I'm convinced this was a publicity stunt.

Rather than being angry or worried, I suspect the producers of the show are rubbing their hands with glee.

That's the trouble with a lot of TV these days. Ratings and publicity are paramount, whilst morals and values take a back seat.

Not much of an apology really!

If he really wants to show some contrition he should spend the rest of the series dressed only in brown.

Not much of an apology. He obviously has been told to apologise and has said the minimum necessary. Everyone else surrounding the show seems to have been told not to discuss what he said

Terrible state of affairs if that's the case. It also leaves those defending Jason G with egg or worse on their faces.

In addition, some of the threads daring to criticise what he said have been removed from the ITV.com message board.

Have they now?! Wonder why! Seems ITV have gone into 'it never happened' mode!

edit....had a quick look on the ITV forums and there are several threads still there

Wise words. It's all scripted in any event.

When asked what she thought about Gardiner's remarks today Daniella Westbrook said she didn't hear anything because his remarks were drowned out by all the booing.

I wonder if contestants are told what to say when being interviewed. I think it is called damage limitation.

ITV have been swamped with complaints and if they think Gardiner's excuse of an apology to the viewers is acceptable - they should think again. He needs to publicly apologise to Sharron, be made to grovel and then have his contract terminated.

I think Sid is right that it is all a publicity stunt, possibly scripted and a pathetic attempt to up the ratings. Well DOI completely stuffed up. I hope the producers of the show have got the message that the insulting behaviour Gardiner demonstrated last night is totally unacceptable and will be not tolerated under any circumstances. I wonder if their wash-up meeting was held in the toilet because that is where their brains are!

Well I don't like watching him, he's spoiling the show. I've taken to watching it elsewhere, where I can leave out large parts and just watch the skating. It's very much nicer without his inane and pathetic attention seeking comments.

Dannella will not say anything negative about Jason, she has after all been teachers pet since day 1

Robin glossed over Jasons comments on This Morning as did Phillip

The only one who had the balls to say anything was Tanna and she didnt have to be vile to make her point, she pointed out that Jason could make comments without getting personal and that he was getting too personal
