I currently have tiscali but would like to move to talk talk for there 24MB broadband. As both companies are owned by CPW you would think this would be easy. talktalk say they can not see my current phoneline as tiscali put some kind of block on them and so the only solution is a new line and telephone no. but i need to keep the current no.

Does anyone or any of the MK boys know how to get this tag removed from my line.

I had the same issue moving from Tiscali to Sky. When i entered the phone number in to their checker it was telling me it was not a valid BT number.

We placed the order for Sky Talk and provided them with the number and current provider and they arranged the switch. On the day that the phone went to sky talk our Tiscali broadband / phone / TV automatically ceased. The only problem was then we had to wait 10 days for the broadband order to go through (and no broadband in the meantime).

It's because your on Tiscali's own network (i.e. unbundled llu). Im not sure if this is the same issue as you are having, but sounds like it.

I had the same problem, both Tiscali and TalkTalk were useless. Neither could help, even though they are the 'same' company. So I moved to BT. I gave BT my number, they did the rest. All happened in about 10 days.

TalkTalk missed out - and now they have written to me to ask why I left??? Their letter says I will leave their service on the 10th Feb, but BT got my line and broadband on 26th Jan and my contract ended back in December, so....??

Looks like i'll wait awhile then. BT are meant to be upgrading our exchange in March so will transfer to them to get a 24MB connection. I cant believe tiscali and talktalk wont do anything as they are obviously loosing customers because of this.

jamesdisco - If you are in contract to us then I'm guessing this is what's happening, or are you saying you are not in contract and we wont allow the move for some reason?

Hi Chris, im out of contract, the problem is that talktalk can not see my tel. no. if i type it into there website they cant find it. Ive spoken to numerous people at talktalk even once they put me onto opal to see if they could help.
Its not that they wont allow a move they say they cant do it because of the block that tiscali put on their lines.

Sounds strange - if you're not in contract then you are free to leave to any ISP I would have thought - let me check the details and get back to you, if possible could you PM me your number also? Many thanks

Regards

Chris

I currently have tiscali broadband and phone package however if I wish to move to talk talk for there 24MB broadband. When I ring tiscali I am being told there is no tag on my line.

Could you please suggest a way forward?

Nope, no solution i heard back from MK chris and he confirmed what tiscali and talktalk had said. I need to cancel the line and the no. goes back to BT you then have to try and get it back.
I recently got a letter informing me of a £2.50 monthly price increase but also that tiscali was going to upgrade their lines to 24MB. Will be interesting to see if this actually happens.
