Why do we have to keep track of her? Because she was in ONE episode of Doctor Who? In that case why don't we keep track of Simon Pegg here too?

I'm sure we would if he was up for an Oscar...

'Cos she's somebody we knew from back before she hit the big time. A Whomtown girl.

Oh please.

The one good thing about this is I don't have to worry about her ever coming back to the series again.

......as long as she doesn't blink

I'm not sure why. Her voice really grated on me through the entirity of Blink.

I find her very "meh".

Don't forget that Kate (I'll never let go Jack...) Winslet's first television break was in CBBC's Dark Season. Written by none other that Russell T himself!
Bloody good that. Got it on VHS somewhere...

And remember to vote for her at Bafta: www.orange.co.uk/bafta

If she wins she better keep looking at that statuette.....they're very creepy and faceless.

No chance of that after his 'effort' in Star Trek.

btw. he did not just do the one Who episode, but did the voiceover for the whole first series of Confidential.

thought she was very bland in "an education" tbh, and surprised katie jarvis didn't even get an oscar nom for "fish tank", the best performance i saw last year by any actress by a long way. just shows these awards are a load of old crap anyway.

How can we get Alex Kingston an Oscar?

(TBH I quite like Alex Kingston. I just loathe River Scum, which is really Steven Moffat's fault, not AK's)

From this weeks PopBitch:

------------------------------------------------------
Carey Mulligan was offered the role of Dr Who assistant,
which eventually went to Catherine Tate. She apparently
said no because Dr Who fans are too mentally obsessive.

And as anyone who has read "The Writer's Tale" knows that story is a total and utter lie.

The Series 4 Companion would have been Penny Carter from 'Partners In Crime' until they discovered that Catherine Tate wanted to do a full series.

She would have been named Penny Carter, but wouldn't have been the actor or character in PiC, who in the episode commentary RTD jokes is an "anti-Companion."

But she certainly wouldn't have been Sally Sparrow, nor would she be played by Carey Mulligan!

It might be not true (hOPEFULLY) but that is the crassiest excuse for not acting , you dont see Dame julie walters not doing Harry potter cause the fans might mob her , Sounds like she is a nervous person and the fans can be really supportive okay you get mobs sometimes but isnt that part of the job

Tinny, it's more than might not be true. It's complete nonsense. It isn't a quote from her, and it was never considered as a possibility. It's not right for Mulligan to get a bad reputation for something she never said.
