Amazon video on demand, are we ever going to get it in the UK?
Are we ever going to get an alternative to pricey Itunes?
They have an alternative in america, why not here? I want high definition Tv shows and movies to download which I can watch on my playstation, not restricted to apple TV which I do not have. I dont want to download illegally anymore, I think Karma is punishing me Any ideas when or if we are ever going to get something like this!!!! |

Tesco have some video to download but sometimes it is cheaper to buy the DVD.
http://www.tescoentertainment.com/st...lmtvdownloads/ SeeSaw has several streaming videos paid for by advertising and will later have a download service, If this and Amazon UK TV and Films could take off then hopefully download costs will start to become cheaper! |

So we soon could see Amazon On Deman in the form of LoveFilm. |

Amazon owns LoveFilm in the UK and other countries in the EU, as far as I know LoveFilm is working on an app for canvas for when it gets released and also in a widget app for connected TVs, they also do some online renting in their website.
So we soon could see Amazon On Deman in the form of LoveFilm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LoveFilm Quote:
In February 2008, LoveFilm acquired Amazon's DVD rental business in the UK and German markets, and in return Amazon became the largest shareholder of LoveFilm.[5] [6][7] But encouraging, I have a Tesco DVD rental subscription and the discs are marked Lovefilm. Besides Amazon and Arts Alliance Ventures, venture capital firms Balderton Capital, DFJ Esprit and Index Ventures also have stakes in LoveFilm.[8] [edit] Operate rental services for other companies Besides its own DVD rental and purchase sites, LoveFilm also runs a number of such sites on behalf of other companies. The following is a list of current such white label services operated by LoveFilm.[9] CD-WOW! - an online retailer. Sofa Cinema - the Guardian newspaper sponsors this site. WHSmith Movies Direct - from the WH Smith bookstore chain. Tesco DVD Rental - Service for the Tesco supermarket chain website. EasyCinema - Service in conjunction with the Easy Group. Odeon Direct - Service in conjunction with the Odeon cinema chain. If the Canvas STBs and TVs start arriving later this year looks like DVD rental will be replaced by rental downloads under several brands in competiton with itunes, Sky and VM movies, at lower cost. What Lovefilm/Amazon UK need to do next is to arrange deals with the major TV studios for download "day after" if it is not on BBC iplayer, ITV player or 4oD!. |
