I have just read this story about a lady whose husband is buried with his pets and she also wants to be buried with them. I actually think this is rather nice especially as they have lived quite a few years together, so why not be together for ever?

I still have our last dog's ashes as I haven't yet had the heart to scatter or bury them and I would think about doing the same thing as dogs have always been such a huge part of our lives.

Pets are after all family, dogs and cats especially. Only those who've never kept animals and who don't have a heart for animals will fail to understand that.

Well I am 30 and Amber is 2 - I am kind of hoping I'll outlive her by quite a few years (no disrespect to my baby girl but it's true she will most likely die long before I do)

For older people that die soon after their pets then yes I think it's a nice idea....

Anyways - I am being cremated so it's a moot point

my other half has already been instructed that when i die all the fur clippings that a have kept from my deceased hairy bairns shall go in the coffin with me.

Would be difficult as vet has disposed of all bodies so far and I can't imagine that changing. And i am going to be cremated and scattered.

Same here re cremation, but if we keep our pets' ashes and let relatives know our wishes, then pets' ashes could be scattered with ours, or if interred in a cemetry, a garden of rest or woodland site, then our pets' ashes could be interred with us.

It's just a body, a shell once it has ceased living I have no interest in it really. I am only being scattered because it's the cheapest way to go.

It would be nice actually, I have no religious beliefs but it would be reassuring that I wasn't 'alone' as such but unless I'm buried in my back garden it's unlikely.

The vet disposed of our dog's body because he was too big to take home, and we didn't keep the ashes because it would have cost too much, and as much as we wanted to, there was no way we could have afforded it. Our fish and hamsters are buried in the garden, so I don't think I'll be buried there, and I'm only 15 so I'm guessing I'll move away and have more pets before I die. I want to either be buried in this beautiful graveyard in my village, up the hill from me and overlooking the sea, or be cremated and my family can do whatever they want with my ashes

it's a nice idea for some, and besides historically many important people were buried alongside animals (Egyptian pharoas etc.)

However I highly doubt religious cemetery's would allow this.

Me personally I think it's going a bit far in this day and age. I believe that if a pet dies it deserves it's own little mini funeral in the garden, pet cemetery or pride of place urn on the mantlepiece. The pet deserves its own resting place, not a secondary one with its owner. I think 'letting go' is part of the pet grieving process, in my opinion being buried with your animal would signify you couldn't do that.

I already have plots booked in the Pets and Owners section of a green burial ground in North Yorkshire.
The old Lab's already there waiting for us......

I dont think any animal or human should be buried or cremated. We should be left in a forest, where nature will put us to good use, and our spirits can roam free

Wouldn't be terribly nice for folk out walking to stumble across decaying bodies. Plus how would we know when we'd found a murdered body? You've got to think these things through

They could maybe be 'Special' forests, like a piece of land specifically for this purpose, kind of like cemeteries and you'd know who was in there. It could be all official but no-body would ever want to vist .
