After reading a load of crap, I'll now give MY opinion!

I think it's time the Doctor had TWO companions. And preferably for a long while, not just the odd episode or two.
Look at the companionship that DW2 had with Jamie and Zoe!). It makes it more of a family. David Tennant had it with Rose and mickey (albeit brief!). It makes it more interesting to see how they all inter-act when they are split up or whatever!
OK - it got a bit much with Dr 5's THREE companions at times, but it was still acceptable, whether they wrote one out or the other for any particular story.
The NEW Doctor has always had more than one companion anyway (as mentioned earlier): Adam, Mickey, Jack, .....dare I say the beloved Jackie Tyler!! Gosh I loved her!!

Get Jackie back on board I say!

Surely they've finished filming by now anyway? And it's not like they always film in episode sequence is it?

Could be wrong, of course! ”

My understanding is that series 1 had no "lite" episodes because they didn't need to find the time to also film the Xmas special at that point, as they didn't know if they were doing one.
The "lite" episodes are "double-bankers" - they get to film 2 episodes simultaneously to save time.

Well, Moffat wanted Jenny regenerated for a reason....

Daddy and Daughter being about the same age....(in appearance anyway...), could be interesting

They're filming 12 and 13 on stonehenge as we speak, 7 and 11 have yet to be filmed.

There's another person who could technically be called a companion

as Van Gogh gets to travel in the TARDIS.
”

On that definition so is

Spoiler
H G Wells - who appeared in a Colin Baker story and travelled in the Tardis.

And

Spoiler
Liz Shaw is not a companion because she never travelled in the Tardis.

This 'River Scum' stuff isn't that clever, y'know. Just tiresome.

Unlikely, since she's still a regular companion in the eighth Doctor audios which are also made for the BBC. Unless she was playing the same character, which I'd like but which seems improbable.

I would be happy for Amy's BF to join at the end of episode one...if she is playing a strip-o-gram dressed in the faux police officers outfit, and her BF is
Spoiler
having a bacherlor / stag party / night then a good link up would be having her BF thinking its Amy about to jump out of the cake, but in fact it's the Doctor..
grabs him, takes them both on board, in time to fly off to the Past........

They had three companions for quite a few stories in the sixties (right up until the middle of 1965, and again for most of Troughton's first few stories), and it worked quite well. The only thing wrong with the Davison era companions was that their personalities often conflicted.

I didn't feel as if Nyssa had a personality at all....Adric and Tegan...and then Turlough( the best one out of those) did though....and their interactions were more better.

okay, now I've read the "article" *coughs* , I'm fairly sure it's all rubbish, no doubt plucked from some obscure website.

If anything, its a really bad piece of reporting that sounds like its trying to impress the lads.

Quote:
“"A hot babe and her boyfriend are press ganged by the doctor..."

"horrified at the thought of splitting them up, the doctor... gatecrashes the lad's stag do."

"A source said "it's going to be a tight squeeze in there this year.""”

Oh, and notice that Amy has gone from being a kissogram to a stripogram

'more better'?

Nyssa had a personality. She was the quiet, calm, thoughtful one often overshadowed by the others. You'll usually find someone like that in any group. I rather liked Nyssa. I'd have quickly ended up wanting to punch Tegan or Adric if I'd had to spend any time with them.

Yes I did feel the interction between Tegan and Adric, or Tegan and Turlough was "better". Because as you put it, their personalities conflicted at times, and gave it an essence of them being alive and interacting in some form or another. While I still feel Nyssa didn't interact much in any form, because there was nothing to define her personality for me. I tried to convince myself that she is an alien, not human, so was bound to be different. But no, nothing. the words she said made her sound intelligent yes...but thoughful, shy...nope never got that from her. For example her last story, their was nothing in that untill she said that she wants to stay and help, that she felt anything for those people on Terminus...so it seemed quite all of a sudden. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate her...but I can't help feeling that she was bland. There were moments were I wanted to give her a good shake, and say "react woman react"

The funny thing is I was watching a few of the Davison era stories the other week and Nyssa of all his companions actually uses guns a lot more! She might be bland but she can fire a laser well
