Google reader this morning alerted me to the fact that version 1.00.13 is being broadcast OTA from today.

http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php

Does anybody know what the changes are?

The following can be found on the Join Freesat site at http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/
Humax have released a new software update for the Humax FOXSAT-HDR (version 1.00.13) and Humax FOXSAT-HD (version 1.00.26), which is available for download over-the-air (OTA) today.

The update for the FOXSAT-HDR is said to just resolve MHEG issues for iPlayer, whilst the FOXSAT-HD the same plus issues with loss of signal on high-band vertical channels.

Obviously not the whole story then..

Come-on Humax, "wake up" and update your web-site!

Some tv's have hdcp handshake problems with the hdr.

A power cut of longer than a few seconds stops the clock and stops all futher scheduled recordimgs until a manual boot restarts the clock.

I was so hoping that would be fixed I get it if i leave freesat AV channel to flick though Freevuiw channels, the only way to get rid of the Green it to change channels or v-format button which is a pain if recording

I wonder if it fixes the overscan problem they introduced in the last update ?

(as discussed in the second half of this thread http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s....php?t=1164808 )

Fraid not . At least the problem still exists on my Sony W series TV

This is only a firmware update not a boot loader update. I believe that Bob_Cat said that they would have to fix the boot loader for this. Boot loaders do not happen over the air so I guess we will have to see if Humax update their website with the boot loader.

They released a new boot loader recently (7.53 to fix OTA firmware upgrades for diseqc users). Seeing the negative criticisms this problem has created I would have thought if it was fixable they would have done so.

I realised that it was on 7.53 and I updated myself. Does that mean it's not fixable? Not sure I follow your logic. I would have thought it was fixable although I can't claim to know their code at all. Maybe at some point ahead???

That makes sense that the problem is in the bootloader. Actually fixing the bootloader shouldn't be too much of an issue (as it has a relatively simple task with none/minimal user interaction) however there will never be an OTA for it so would have to be done via an update from a USB stick.

When I say the bootloader is simple, I mean relative to the application/main software. If its anything like the stuff I'm used to at work it probably does the following:-

1. Checks the validity of itself via a CRC check.
2. Performs hardware checks.
3. Checks to see if a program enable discrete is set and if so attempts to locate an OTA and flash the EEPROM.
4. If the program enable discrete is not set then perform a check to see if the main firmware is valid (i.e. CRC check it).
5. If everything OK then leave the bootloader and launch the main software (otherwise stay in the bootloader and possibly open coms with some internal test port so the hardware engineers can "talk" to it).

I wonder if they go as far as having a very small bootloader which can never be updated and which calls a more complex bootstrap which in turn calls the main software. Advantage of this method is that if flashing the bootstrap went horribly wrong then the bootloader would still be intact and should have enough basic functionality to attempt to re-program the bootloader.

I'm waffling... sorry...

I still get Green screen issues on my Sony W2000 LCD, might have to return as not fit for purpose if they don't fix it soon.
