Update worked OK for me. Can't see anything different and all settings unchanged.

Its early days but I don't now seem to be having the aspect ratio switching problems that 1.0.12 introduced on my Panasonic TV.
I had to use the internal up-scaler to 1080i to prevent spurious AR switching.

I just went to do a manual update, only to find it had already updated!
The Network details are now correct, except the second octet (the number after the first 'dot') of the DNS server address changes every time you go to the screen. I did left-arrow, right-arrow a few times and that second number was different every time. I'm not sure there are really that many DNS servers out there, and you would not normally switch the one you use unless it stops working. So only 9.9 out out 10 for fixing the Network address issues (which is one of the two things they are claiming to have fixed).

Seems the same with my Panasonic TV. It's not switching properly between 4:3 and 16:9 like it did before version 12.
I thought it strange but my 6year old Plasma is now on 4:3 and will not go to Widescreen..
It's on Scart of course..
I do not want to disconnect PLUGS etc..
so could this be a Plasma problem not connected with the Humax?
Graham et al said it was an old Computer type screen..
the picture is Brill as always..straight edges and rock steady..
I wonder if a power failure could cause a relapse to a more manageable configuration..

How do you update the loader via USB?
I've downloaded the newest loader software, renamed it, and put it in the root of the usb stick.
I put it in, tuned the power off and back on while keeping the standby button held in, but nothing happened?

Firstly when you renamed the file could you see the existing .hdr in the filename if not you have file extension display disabled so you may have called it FOXSAT_HDR_upgrade.hdf.hdf. If so just delete the extra .hdf
It's got to be the sby button on the hdr not the remote. If that does not work try a different usb stick

Ahh cheers, yes it was the file renaming that was the problem, thanks.
I've been waiting for this OTA software update download since I first read the OP and switched on especially today to get it to happen before my daughter got in from school and moaned about the delay...
No software update! Tried automatic then manual software update, still no joy (dialogue box came up saying 'no new software'). Had a look at the 'diagnostics' section: software version 1.00.13 done on 16 January, weeks ago! Doh!

It did it last night. It only went OTA yesterday. The dates the date the file was produced not the date it was updated.
Unfortunately the rename hasn't worked.

You put the usb drive in the front usb slot with the hdr in sby. Turn on the TV and select whatever input you use to watch TV. Prees and hold the front sby button.
The hdr can be quite fussy which usb drives it works with so if you can try another pen drive
One minor oddity I noted directly after the update had been done was that the screen seemed to be "shimmering" slightly (don't really now how to describe it).
When I checked the front display none of the display options were lit (i.e. 576i, 720p etc). After pressing the V-format button and selecting "original" the HDR display and the TV picture went back to normal.

I cannot replicate this.
It is possible to have more than one DNS server from DHCP but in my case, I have only one. My Netgear router acts as a DNS relay for the "real" DNS servers.

HDMI Widescreen signal still not working on my Panasonic TV 
When Humax boot loader banner comes up the TV switches to wide from 4:3 but after boot completes the 16:9 picture is shown in a 4:3 window.
So just like last century, I have to manually set the TV to 16:9 for use with the HDR

As I reported my old Hitachi Plasma did the same thing ..
I took all the power off and left it for an hour or so..
Upon reconnection everything is now fine..
so I imagine that some impulse was fired in to the controls which did in fact just what Automan's set up did..

My guess would be this fundamental to the hardware.
When you put the HDR in standby, I imagine it sets the equivalent of a BIOS timer wakeup. Removing the power probably loses this information (and as a consumer product, this might be considered desirable from the point-of-view of performing a simple reset).
When the power is restored, the HDR doesn't boot up automatically - it goes straight to standby.
To fix this problem, I think the hardware behaviour would need to be changed so that restoring power caused the machine to boot up. Perhaps this is possible by modifying the bootloader, or maybe it's hard and that's why Humax haven't done so ?

...but, isn't it the case that if the power goes out when the HDR is 'on' (ie, not in standby) then when the power is restored it automatically powers back on...? If this is the case then it must be storing it's state somewhere and using this to determine the mode when the power is restored. Couldn't this be set to ALWAYS boot up following a power failure (this would be preferable to failing all timers!) rather than coming back on in standby?

Yes it's correct a power failiure while the box is on, recording or in recording sby is not a problem when power is restored.

Recording sby is the 15 min period before a recording is due to start when the hdr wakes up to check the epg and wait for the programme running status change to trigger the recording start, it's efectively on but has no video or audio output. The problem is when the box is in full sby and the only difference in the power saving modes is that with power saving in sby off a much shorter power cut will cause the problem (The greater power requirement drains the stored energy much quicker)

So apart from leaving the HDR fully powered up all the time, there is no protection from a power cut?

Recording standby doesn't recover from a power interupt. Unless they've fixed this in the last update.
Edit: 'Recording standby' is the worst condition the box can be set in, as the internal capacitance isn't capable of protecting against even the shortest of interupts.
