Hope someone can help me here.
Going to New York in May and there will be loads of walking about to do.
Can anyone recommend a comfy pair of shoes which look fashionable too??
I am not sure what the weather will be like (quite warmish at that time of the year so the guide books say) so Uggs or any kind of boots are out of the question.
It may be rainy so sandals are questionable too!!
As its New York I want to be fairly fashionable but not having to limp round with dozens of plasters stuck all over my feet!!!
PLEASE can somebody come up with some suggestions!!!!

What about Foot Gloves from M & S? On second thoughts they may have changed the brand but still do comfy and stylish footwear. Basically, look for shoes with a bendy sole, Clarks do some.

Whatever you buy, its probably an idea to break them in, or at least wear them for some LONG walks, before you go.
I went in August, and took some crocs (which I later discovered werent the real thing), and my feet bled! It was sooooooo painful - Ended up going into Nike and buying some trainers which were really nice and comfy!
My feet ached every single day, but it was worth it!
What kinda clothes will you be taking? Would a nice pair of trainers do the job for casual/daytimey things? Then you could take a pair of ballet pumps or gladiator sandals for the evenings/dressey up times?

What about some flat leather pixie/ankle boots? You could wear them with a dress, that's pretty acceptable in the spring. And you could carry around some flip flops in your bag to put on if it gets unbearably hot.

Yea pixie boots are a great idea- I will have a look for some. I am mainly concerned about a walking trip we are doing. It is around 6 hours just walking and on subways so I will need something really comfy. I think not knowing about the weather is bugging me as well. We usually go to places we know will be hot so sandals and flip flops will do but a city is usually cooler any way.
Thanks to you for all your suggestions!!

OP I'm so jealous about you going to NY! I would love to go there some day!

With regards to your question, I find ankle boots that are obviosly the right fit to be very comfortable, good enough for walking long distances yet still looking great! To make it extra comfy though, I sometimes wear fluffy bed socks inside the boot (nobodies going to see at the end of the day! :P) so I'd highly recommend trying that.

Have a fantastic trip.

I've got some really comfy Clarks walking shoes. They're surprisingly lightweight, but they are really solid too - I've found them sturdy enough to cope with the snow and with quite muddy hillwalking, but they also look pretty normal with jeans for walking round town. I wore them to work all through the snow too, and they seemed smart enough with trousers.
