Uh, could someone explain this thread to me. Nighy has a cameo a museum curator in the episode.

How does this make him a Vampire?

In the present day, not the 19th century.

So why would he be a vampire?

whilst the episode is set in both, there is no indication that Nighy's character appears in both time periods is there?

"A Source said: Bill is a national treasure, and his stock is high at the BBC"

I wish these "sources" wouldn't speak in cliches. It does annoy me.

There's no indication that Nighy appears anywhere but in the 21st Century.

From set reports we know
Spoiler
that Van Gogh is brought forward in time from the 19th Century to the present day where presumably he meets Nighys character.

As to
Spoiler
Vampires, given that the episode set in 16th Century Venice has Vampires in it I don't think they will feature in this one as well.
