Is £1.99 expensive for a bottle of pop? Seems rather cheap to me.

Well it's about £1.50 in Tesco (or 2 for £2.50 or something).

Spar will naturally be more expensive as it's a smaller convenience store.

They sell 2 litre Pepsi's in my local £1 shop - and it's cheaper than Tesco or Asda so I always get it from there anyway

Is it related to the massive shortage of fizzy pop the country is currently experiencing?

Pre-recession you could have picked up Pepsi for under £1 and Coca-Cola for probably about £1.20

I don't understand the point of these big bottles of pop. They lose the majority of their fizz after you've opened it so unless you're going to serve the whole bottle out in one go then it's much nicer to buy cans (which after-all are always on offer anyway).

Doesn't seem too bad when you think what you pay for a 500ml bottle of pop.

Yup, the amount of flat fizzy that get left in the cupboard of my house. Little Sniffle is a demon for that..

OP, that does seem rather pricey I think.

Depends where you come from

In South Wales, everyone seems to call it pop

Very true. You don't get the little marble any more. Mind you, I do have an old bottle of ginger beer and a bottle of mineral water with the old marble stopper.

It's so they can sell it an half price next week at a £1. It will just look like a better deal.

At least with coke you can use the flat stuff to clean the toilet.

It's more expensive in order to cover the costs of it not being sold.

My local Co-op sells it for £1.99 too.

12 years ago when I worked part-time at a BP garage at a Welcome Break service area, they were charging £1.99 then too!

In our shop we try to get price marked items. The profit is lower but customers like it. Coke is £1.59 pricemark but that has now gone up to £1.85 with the new stock.

It goes flat in bottles. Small shops can't turn over stock like supermarkets do.

It doesn't go flat that quickly ..

I used to buy coke wholesale to sell on at a small business, I held on to stocks for months and it was all fine
