As much as I love the pros they have opened a can of worms with this unprofessional way of dealing with their Facebook/Twitter pages its NOT the place so sound of about their working conditions if they have issues they should go to those concerned and NOT on a public website for all the world to see, then problems like this would not become public knowledge.”

I think 9k a year for new pros considering they can't do anything else all year is bad when the presenters probobaly get way way more for 2 hours of presenting.

I don't think there being unprofessional people are lying about them and where has it said there denying it.

Thing is Tracey - they haven't actually said anything really - you are reading too much into it.

All that was said about the wii game was 'it would have been nice to have been asked about it'

nothing major.

As for the newspaper article, all Fred said was that no-one had been interviewed for it so prepare for a pack of lies.

They aren't saying anything we didn't really know already, its not like they are saying 'we earn such crap wages, I don't know why I bother to turn up' is it? They haven't said anything about their working conditions on FB or Twitter so I don't get what all the fuss is about.

Especially as John Kerr has gone on record has having a very low opinion of DOI.

Who says they cant do anything else ALL year??
I know that two of the pros last year went straight into working in a show its only during the time the are contracted to DOI that they cant do other stuff as far as I'm aware.
And the fact that several of the pros also took part in Kyrans Ice Party proves this point!

Oh right I thought they weren't allowed to do anything at all all year my mistake.

Still I think the pros should be paid more.

I'm not sure that is true, 4 of last years pros were in Kyran's Ice Party, which is not associated with DOI. Maybe it means while they are doing the show and tour.

Seen someone else has said the same thing

Yeah, I was going to mention that but couldn't be bothered looking for a source.

There was 6 actually at different times.
Dan,Matt,Fred,Mel,Stuart,Frankie all took part.
Along with Florentine and Kristina although they dont count in this argument as they didnt return to DOI this year.

I think this was it: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/g...d-1648188.html

I seem to remember there was also something in their blog on their website but that doesn't exist any more.

How can the pros be restricted to only doing DOI during the run of the series when Fred and Maria recently did a cookery demonstration on television and posted twitpics to prove it? Presumably they were paid for that and a number of the pro skaters have done various magazine interviews which they'd also have got paid for.

And if the pro skaters are that unhappy, why would there be a core group that keeps coming back every year?

It sounds to me like the press are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Do you mean their blog doesn't exist or the website? Website is here http://www.sineadandjohn.com/ run by an ex Murrayfield skater and she still updates the blog for them every so often. There is actually a link to the article under multimedia on their site.

No, I meant the relevant blog entry where John spoke about the press articles where they slated DOI. John basically apologised if he offended anyone but stood by his opinion, which is of course his right.

Ah yeah I know what you mean, I remember reading that a while ago. Just looked and it's still there in the 20/03/09 entry.

I couldn't find it when I looked

EDIT: I was looking in the wrong place - it's in the Diary section, which I didn't even look at as I assumed it was their calendar of competitions and appearances. I'm a twit!

I agree with all of this, point well made! They haven't done anything wrong IMO.
There's not much substance to the story. I, for one, am more inclined to believe the pro's themselves, rather than something that's written in a rag of a "newspaper".

"A source" or "a spokesman" without a name is often tabloidese for "someone who lives only inside my head".

ITV has been having extreme money troubles recently.

Well said. I'm repeating myself, I know, but the words "mountain" and "molehill" definitely come to mind.

I'm obviously guessing here but I think that comment may be a bit of a joke?
