Was amazed that Jayne Torvill - had never done the headbanger until this week. Yet Hayley is doing it after just a few weeks on the ice. Says it all really - its not ice dancing at all!”

It's another non-skating way for Hayley to look good.

Hayley, whilst not one of my favourites is good. Can't take that away from her.

Wait 'till someone is seriously hurt doing it (or learning it) and see how ok it looks then. If the injury is bad enough, that's the end of DOI.”

Well considering it is pretty much their show, I would imagine that counts for something .

I can't bear to watch the headbanger, to me it is an accident waiting to happen.

She doesn't need 'non- skating' ways to make her look good, she is more than good, she is brilliant and she IS the best.

Strange that she uses so many of them then.

Could it be that she wouldn't look quite so leaderboard-leading good without them? Hmmm.

Same here, Hayley seemed rather terrified of it to me too, the focus on it is silly.

I groan every time its announced someone is doing it.

It will count for something in a very interesting way if someone is badly hurt.

T&D have some responsibility, do they? ...

I wonder who fills in all the forms for elf and safety?

Surely it is Jane and Chris who choreograph the routines? Hayley is so good on the ice, without the lifts etc, it is so obvious that she is a good skater, Chris and Jane see it as do all the judges. I wonder why some on DS just refuse to see it.

Hayley is not fooling anyone into thinking she's good, either the judges or the public. She's just a hard working, enthusiastic young woman with a gift for presenting herself in a fun and engaging way, a fantastic rapport with her partner, and to me at least, an obviously strong skating ability.

Refuse to see what?

The issue is whether she's looking better than she is, not whether she's good.

How can we possibly judge that from our sofas at home?!

OK, do you think she is good?

I don't see what it has to do with skating.

I think she's pretty good by DOI standards but keeps doing things that make her look better than she is.

Veri, she doesn't 'keep doing them', she is given them to do by Chris and Jane.

If she can't be blamed, she shouldn't get credit either.

T&D are being used as an excuse for an awful lot of stuff. If so much is down to them, why are the celebs being marked at all?

You mean like being lifted around the rink for 3 quarters of a given routine in various extra long lifts

But they do the choreography, that is for certain. I suspect they chose to put the headbanger into the show. They gave the headbanger to Hayley but said that if she didn't want to do it, they were going to give it to Daniella. Daniella said she would have done it.

I don't get it either. Always so jarring from the rest of the routine. Makes me worry for Hayley and she's obviously worried herself.

How silly they keep doing these silly tricks. Last year Robin said Roxanne was doing it as a gimmick and would have marked her just the same without that silly headbanger.

As I am very new to DOI and skating in general, I must admit I find it quite awesome to watch.

But I do agree too that it could go horribly wrong one day - which would NOT good for a live show - and only then will people say that it shouldn't have been attempted by amateurs.

She doesn't choreograph them though!! She does as she's asked and does it well, what more do you want her to do? Throw a strop and demand to choreograph her own routines?

I thought Hayley was amazing the way she carried on with the dance after the fall with Dan though he said that it was his fault. Even after that it didn't see seem to ruffle her feathers. Hayley and Dan were fabulous!
