Cat being sick a lot

One of my two year olds has thrown up about 10 times tonight - she started at teatime with identifiable food progressing to liquid , then she asked for some food - she's a greedy little thing ! she settled back down then , got her tummy tickled etc but about three hours later the food came back up again !
She has settled back down & I think she had more food . She is drinking water & washing herself - it's late so I'm reluctant to ring a vet tonight , particularly as she does get sick a bit , just never this much, am I right ? Vets tomorrow though

Furball? Worms? Change of food? Even a little sickness bug. Though there are potentially serious causes.

If otherwise well, leave it till the morning. We worry ourselves to much sometimes. Understandable, but I think vet in the AM will be fine.

With the usual disclaimer that I am not a vet nor play one on TV so if you are worried, phone your OOH service.

You must go to the vet in the morning and get her checked out even if she appears ok. Vomiting is very dangerous and 10 times?! She will no doubt be severely deydrated and in need of a vitamin boost even if it's nothing serious.

I'm a bit of a worry guts but I would check on her in teh night as well just to make sure she's ok. Best not to leave any wet food out for her (not good for her to eat if she has a tummy bug), instead just a few crunchies/kibbles and water.

Definitely take her to the vets in the morn, as she'll be left feeling weak from vomiting so much.
I'd take up any food that she has access to during the night (as it just seems to be aggravating the nausea), just leave a bowl of water for her. If possible keep her in overnight, in a warm environment.

Hope you and kitty get on ok tomorrow. xxx

Thanks for the replies - I don't think it's furball or worms as the lucky one who gets to clean it up ! I can only get her to the vet in the evening but hope she'll be ok until then .. She's a podge so has a bit in reserve for a day - she has been drinking water so I'll keep an eye on that too .. Will be keeping an eye on her tonight although her tummy is empty now & have taken up the food bowls to her sister's utter disgust !

I cant remember the name for it but some cats do throw there food up. I would like the others said take you cat too the vet. I had 6 cat sick at the same time one day, it was due too a bad batch of food. It could also be worms. Cats dont always throw them up if they have them. Cats can be very off colour with furballs as well but you can get a paste for that. I wouldnt let your cat have anything else to eat as well until you have seen the vet just leave water down. Please let us know how you get on

The little minx had a great nights sleep at the end of the bed as usual - but I was woken early by two very hungry ladies who didn't apreciate the space where their food bowls usually are ! I gave some biscuits to her sister but the look of disgust on her face when she was faced with a glass of water instead of brekkie !! I'm pretty sure she booted her sister off the food bowl while I was in the shower, as there was great lip licking going on when I got out !

I'll ring the vets in a bit and make an appointment, Oh says I'm overreacting but I want to make sure she's ok..

Aww, I am glad to see that she had a good nights sleep. And you're not over-reacting, after so much vomiting, she needs checking out. She may have munched on something outside that she ought not have munched, and it could have aggravated her stomach. Sickness in a cat can sometimes be something and nothing, but there's always that slight risk of it being more serious, so it's always worth getting it checked.

She and her sister sound adorable, and they've obviously got a very loving home. Hope you get on ok at the Vets today. Keep us posted. x

I spoke to the vets office and they said to bring her in this evening so they can take a look at her just in case. That should guarantee her immediate recovery !

We're back from the vet now - he couldn't find an obsturction, which is good, but he reckons she has a temperature and so gave her an injection of antibiotics which will hopefully sort her out. She is on a diet of chicken & fish for the next few days and I'm to check in. the little minx is a little subdued, but seems fine. Her sister, on the other hand, would appear to be coming down with a cold...

It never rains but it pours !! thanks all for your concern, I'm pleased I brought her - even though she probably would have been fine regardless. I won't hesitate in the future, even though the plaintive mewing all the way there & back would break your heart !

Ahh, it sounds like a bit of gastric flu, poor thing. Hope the sister doesn't get it but if her ears are hot, she may well have a temperature also.

I think her sister is coming down with something alright, she's got that air of martyrdom about her and is sneezing those pretty little cat sneezes ! The only problem is that the vet doesn't have a surgery here tomorrow, so if she does come down with it, she has a 40 minute journey..

fingers crossed !

Aww, I'm pleased she's ok, and I hope her sister gets on ok too.
If they seem a little icky over the next few days, simple poached chicken is really good for them. Just boil the chicken in plain water (no salt) and see if they'll eat it. They can then have the juices that it's cooked in too. I swear by it when my cats get ill.
Really hope they both get on ok, and thanks for keeping us posted. xxxx

She's panned out on the couch now , deeply asleep next to her hero & mine ! Definately off form the poor little thing ! At least she's stopped throwing up ! We all ( OH , myself & her sister ) keep checking on her as she is noticably lethargic , I guess she's worn out from it all ...
