My partner was a Nokia fan and reluctantly switched to the Blackberry 8520. She got the lilac one from CPW and loves it.

My daughters an iphone lover but she was happy to give her iphone to me after getting herself a Blackberry Storm 2. To say she loves it would be a major understatement. Must admit I can see why, it's a dam fine phone

I've just got the 9700, it was a bit of an odd choice for me,

i'd usually be looking for the latest gimmicks and gadgets but having realised I usually get fed up playing with the phone after the first few hours and getting annoyed with battery life, call quality, e-mail, reliability etc, I went for something different and am I glad I did!

The 9700 does exactly what I want and what it's supposed to do it does to prefection! The battery is fantastic, so easy and quick to type on, call quality is superb and get's a fantasic 3G signal where all my other phones have failed miserably,.

I feel I should have picked a Blackberry earlier, I'm not really sold on big, touch screen devices, I certainly can't type anywhere near as fast on a touch screen as this Blackberry, clicking on links etc is so much easier with the trackpad.

Got mine from here. They offer a brilliant service. Worth getting a case too.

This Blackberry just works. Beautifully.

I got mine from play.com sim free and unlocked £210. Then I sold my old phone for £100 so really only paid £110 in the end. Worth every penny.

I've got the white one and wouldn't change it now, there's something very comfortable about it.

Which model and where did you get a white one from?

I have just swapped my Nokia phone for a Blackberry 8520 curve and so far I love it. I don't know how I used to text without the QWERTY keyboard, it seems odd at first but you soon get used to it.

There seems to be some good deals around and I even went back onto a contract -my advice would be to shop around and look at all Blackberry models to ensure you get the right one for you.

Some good free apps from Blackberry Apps World, I quite like the dictionary and thesaurus-it's fun boring everyone at work with 'word of the day'.

Another Nokia to 8520 convert here

The QUERTY keyboard is far more convenient for texting than the multi-character keys on my old Nokia (I never did get the hang of predictive text )

Another feature I love about my Blackberry is that it automatically checks my personal email account and alerts me if there are any new emails. Of course this feature is only possible if you have internet access as part of your phone plan.

A definite thumbs up for the ol' 8520

The only thing I would fault is the camera doesn't have a light so indoor pictures can b e a bit dull. But for a camera phone its fine. if you're going to a concert or something you'd probably take a proper digital camera anyway so even though the camera on this phone isn't the best its good enouigh.

Had the 8520 since December and it is a good little phone, have big fingers so the qwerty keyboard took a little getting used to.
Also have a nokia n97 for work calls but use the 8520 as much as the nokia.
It is very light and easy to use,i thought the build quality was a little flimsy at first but is actualy quite solid(still bought a rubber protective case though!).
The camera is a weak point but does the job, love the push email,it does a lot of things better than the N97,Battery life is very good compared to the N97.
To be honest if i lost my Nokia i could probably live with the 8520 to do everything!

It has good short cuts when texting e.g. press double space and a fullstop appears, the next sentence is automatically capitalised; other text short cuts include automaticatally adding apostrophes "dont" becomes "don't etc.

Check out the list of them. I had my Bold for months before I found the list e.g. "il" becomes "I'll". You can also add your own.

Probably if you Google "Blackberry shortcuts" a list will come up for other functions.
