Apart from news and/or discussions on a couple of dedicated "Les Mis" sites, this thread appears to be the only other place on the internet to mention Lucie taking over the role of Cosette in June

worldfree, the musical Les Misérables is based on a novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. Try these links for starters

Just noticed my DM
I don't see the harm but also some fans may not believe but I don't, or hope, see Lucie being too upset about it. As pointed out it's not that much of a secret.
Thanks for all the links. Shall have a wee look tomorrow

Three vids from essexangel81 of the gig at Doncaster Racecourse
Lucie solo:
The Climb (1m11s) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7Kx729IYrg
Don't Stop Believing (2m20s) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaBdeco8BQQ
Lucie tweeted that her throat was not good that night – you wouldn't think so from the way she belts out DST. Wonder if Lucie will step to the front of the stage and shout out "Come on!" to get the audience clapping along with their hands when she's in Les Mis lol

Lucie (wearing Olly's hat? ) and the rest of the XF gang:
I've Gotta Feeling (1m11s) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ7WZgAt1Ns

Since Lucie's going to be in a musical, I've dug out the links to the videos of Lucie and some of her mates from Wales singing songs from musicals – Avenue Q and Spring Awakening – at Adam King's benefit show in a hall in Penarth. They've been posted before, but I'll post them again if anyone wants me too. BTW this show was on 4 September 2009 when Lucie had just got back from the Judges' Houses session in Dubai and she's still wearing the same dress lol
I've also dug out a link to Lucie singing a duet from High School Musical with one of her mates at a private birthday party. Anyone want to see it?

The news about Lucie and Les Mis still hasn't been picked up by Lucie's fans out in cyberspace lol

She really works the crowd in Don't stop believing, and she sounds amazing!!

I didn't think the part of the crowd we saw looked that interested in her during i'm yours

Another video from Doncaster:
Empire State of Mind (3m23s) pity about the sing-along voices but they fade out after a bit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVvGz...eature=channel

Lucie also sang Sweet Child Of Mine, but so far only a very short clip of it has been posted on youtube

Hulot I LOVE you!!! <3 thankyou so much !!

At first I thought Lucie was singing incredibly out of tune as that's all I could hear, but then I thought, that's not even possible! ha

Why must those girls feel it is acceptable to murder a brilliant song I do not know!!

WalesOnline has posted the following:
Quote:
“X Factor's Lucie Jones to star in Les Miserables

She missed out on a role in Les Miserables last year due to X Factor commitments, but it seems lightning has struck twice for lucky teenager Lucie Jones.

The 19-year-old from Pentyrch, Cardiff - who was controversially booted off the show in week five of the live shows - is to star as Cosette in the West End show, we can reveal.

It was no secret that musicals guru Cameron Mackintosh wanted to audition Lucie for a part, though initially he had her down for the role of Eponine.

Her mum, Jill Jones, said the teenager was absolutely thrilled to have been cast in one of the lead female roles and had already started rehearsing for the show.

She said: "She was invited to audition immediately after the X Factor tour finished in April.

"Initially she tried out for the role of Eponine and she got down to the last three but when she sang in front of Cameron he said he wanted to see her as Cosette.

"It's a very high part but Lucie has a good enough range to do it.

"She went away, learnt the songs, and went back to audition again. It was a long process, and she had to sing with a number of potential Marius', but she found out she'd got the part about a week or so ago."

It is believed Lucie will make her West End debut at the Queen's Theatre in London some time in July.”

Thanks Hulot for the link and the videos earlier.

At last it has been revealed to all. This is going to be all over the media very quick.

Looks like a trip to the West End in July will be on the cards. I wonder will all the X Factior concerts that Lucie has been booked to appear at still go ahead throughout the Summer .

It's just Welsh news sites carrying it at the moment, but it should spread to the UK nationals soon. I've tweeted it to TeamLloycie as I'm sure they were dying to find out what the press release was going to be about

There are no performances of Les Mis on Sundays so Lucie may possibly still do the Sunday gigs. Otherwise I think most of the advertised gigs carry an "acts subject to change" in the small print

Well now that it's official it is time to start reading something about this musical.
Lucie as an opera singer looks certainly better than Susan Boyle

I love ESOM. Lucie, if you're reading can you do a few other Alicia Keys songs? She's amazing as usual.

The new cast is already rehearsing if you read Sam Bark's twitter and the present cast who are staying are working their socks off doing the show and rehearsing with the new people if you read some of theirs.

Thanks again It's really good to have input from someone who knows more about these things than we do lol (Found Sam's twitter and will follow her as Lucie seems to be too busy rehearsing to tweet

A bit more info on Lucie and Les Mis from WalesOnline:
Quote:
“Her mother, Jill said the 19-year-old from Pentyrch, Cardiff, was thrilled to be making her West End debut and has started rehearsals for the show.

She said: “She was invited to audition immediately after the X Factor tour finished in April.

“Initially she auditioned for Eponine and she got down to the last three, but when she sang in front of Cameron he said he wanted to see her as Cosette.

“It’s a very high part but Lucie has a good range.

“She went away, learnt the songs, and went back to audition again. It was a long process, and she had to sing with a number of potential Mariuses, but she found out she’d got the part about a week or so ago.”

Peter Karrie, who previously played Jean Valjean at the Palace Theatre in London, thinks Lucie will handle the role fine.

“To play the role of Cosette you have to have an aura of innocence about you and I think the part will suit her and her voice.

“They wouldn’t have given it to her unless she can do the octaves required as it’s a very high part.

“The main pressure that comes with a West End role is playing the same role eight days a week. You need the ability to pace yourself and churn out the same performance in every show.””
