To add to the three weeks or three months confusion over when Lucie joins Les Mis:

1) there's also a special "25th Anniversary" production of Les Misérables on at The Barbican in London from mid-September to early October – at the same time as the long-running production in the West End – for which the cast is yet to be announced (I think)

2) Nick Jonas is one of the "big names" being mentioned as joining the cast of Les Mis – people in the USA think he's joining the Broadway show, people in the UK think he may be joining the West End production (or could it be the special short-run 25th Anniversary season at The Barbican?)

See what I mean? Until something "official" is announced, it's mostly rumour and speculation. This is why I'm fairly sure that Lucie's press release won't be out until after an offical announcement has been made by the Les Mis production people.

ilovelucie, apologies if I added to the Les Mis confusion when I retweeted Nick Jonas's tweet:
Quote:
“This riddle is a hint for the big announcement... "One time I forgot what Day it was. so my friend told me to look at a calendar More"”

One Day More is a song from Les Mis.
The following appeared on the Musical Theatre News site at http://wwwmusicaltheatrenews.blogspo...r-casting.html just before 8 o'clock this morning:
Quote:
“Backstage rumours at the Queen's Theatre are rife about various events being planned to coincide with Les Miserables 25th Anniversary.

It seems that some “star casting” will be introduced later this year with various artistes going into the show for periods of around three weeks. Current names being bandied around are Camilla Kerslake playing Cosette, Matt Lucas as Thénardier and the youngest Jonas Brother Nick (pictured) playing Marius. Young Nick has also made strong hints about this on his Twitter - but at least he knows the show as he played the part of Gavroche in 2003 when he was 10 years old).

A formal announcement is expected soon from the Mackintosh office.”

The news that Lucie was to take on the role of Cosette in Les Mis came from Musical Theatre News (and Lucie's mum via WalesOnline!) – I don't think it has been announced officially yet and Lucie definitely hasn't said anything about it herself so far. As it looks as though there are going to be two (or even three) women taking the role of Cosette in the West End production in the coming months, I'm pretty sure that we won't get to see Lucie's press release until after the Mackintosh office has made its "formal announcement"

Now that really was just a rumour/whisper, but it got us all of a flutter didn't it. That's why I'm fairly careful in what I post and normally will only post something if 1) it looks kosher and 2) if I can provide a link to the original source/article. There's been a load of rumour/speculation and the occasional bit of nasty stuff that I just haven't bothered posting.

In some ways this makes things easier for Sam and Lucie. Because they are both (Sam especially) replacing great actresses, there was a danger they would look fine at the singing and weak by comparison at the acting. Guests will spread the argument around, may make everyone else look good, may attract any flack and may give them more time to establish themselves quietly and work up the role.

The downside is that if they go for stunt 3 week casting in an acting heavy musical, it almost certainly won't work and you will end up with Lucie and Sam having to act scenes with transients with little experience and working their socks off trying to make things work. Worse, if the cast keeps on changing as they try and add unnecessary hype with guest stars, they are going to be working their socks off even more continually rehearsing .

Still no announcement about exactly when Lucie will be making her debut in Les Mis. In the meantime…
Quote:
“It is now confirmed the youngest Jonas Brothers Nick is to take on the role of Marius in the West End production of Les Miserables.

Nick Jonas will soon be arriving at the Queen’s Theatre to prepare for his West End debut playing the role of Marius for a three week run from June 21st.

As previously blogged the 17 year old singer has appeared in the musical before at the ripe old age of 10 playing the part of Gavroche in the last nine months of Les Miserable's run on Broadway in 2003.

In October Nick will be part of star- studded company currently being put together to perform a 25th anniversary concert at the 02 Arena in Greenwich - details of which will be announced on Wednesday morning.”

Having embarrassed myself yesterday by forgetting that Lucie has a gig in Ayr tonight, thus revealing that I have a short-term memory span no better than that of a goldfish (i.e. 10 seconds) – thanks ilovelucie – and as there doesn't seem to be a list of Lucie's upcoming gigs anywhere, we now have one here. Not sure that it includes all of the gigs scheduled for Lucie in the coming months but as rumour has it that Lucie won't be making her debut as Cosette in Les Mis for another three months, the end of August seems an appropriate cut-off point for the time being.

Please feel free to delete old gigs and add new ones as we go along – I'm sure she must have more in the pipeline
