FoxSat HDR: Why do recorded programmes / reservations remain in the Schedule ?

Apologies if it's been covered elsewhere, but I've had a surf and couldn't see...

In a nutshell, occasionally programme reservations remain in the Schedule, with a past date, rather than a future date, like I'd expect. I would expect them to move, like normal, to Media.

Amongst others, this has happened on Hustle and Shooting Stars, both on BBC HD. Both programmes are on series reservation.

Struggling to find what the common cause is, maybe it's of no concern, and is just happening when the series comes to an end ? This is true of Hustle (6 of 6 was shown yesterday) but Shooting Stars is stuck at 2 of 6 (with no sign of the remaining upcoming episodes, according to the BBC website).

End of series schedules will remain in the list for 13 weeks, this is to enable the facility to start recording a second series should one start in that time frame.

This is probably because there may be a break in the current run where a different programme is allocated the spot for some reason like a live event being shown. So the S/stars doesn't appear within the 8 days of the epg and will not update until that time span is over-come.

OK, thanks for the prompt response.

I'd kind of come to this conclusion, as I was typing last night, but it's good to have confirmation. I was concerned it was another, ahem "feature".

In hindsight, Sky+ does a similar thing, but the reservation remains hidden - you can't see it in the planner - so you could argue that the Humax has the upper hand, in this respect.

Ive always found this feature a bit annoying.
I currently have a page and a half of programmes in the schedule from a previous date.

And its so easy for Humax to sort it out. All the box needs to do is to default the top of the list to todays date, then if you want to see the programmes from a previous date just scroll up - Sorted. Can't be more than a 10 minute programming job.

Unfortunately i doubt it will happen.

Today my schedule shows a recording to be made of
'Midsommer Murders'.. this afternoon..
which i do NOT want..
as it's an old repeat episode
BUT it does NOT show a recording to be made at 8ooPM tonight..
of the same named series which I do want..
The time guide shows that this will in fact be recorded as usual..
but it's irritating..
If i delete then bang goes the series..so i tolerate it..
Hence for the twice a night soaps..
only the first recording is shown on the Schedule BUT
The time guide always shows the second and this works..
This can have no positive use to anyone I guess..
Does this qualify as a feature?

There's two problems here neither of Humaxes making.

Problem 1 is a screw up by the broadcaster in flagging the freesat+ crid codes

Problem 2 is the way that freesat+ (and Freeview+) works.

The schedule displays only the next occurence of series recording which updates after recording to the next episode if it's within the current reach of the epg. Altering it to include every such episode within the epg would draw equal criticism due to the resulting length of the list. I guess a switchable option might satisy everyone but it's really just as easy to flick through the epg using the 24hr skip if you want to check future ones will be scheduled.

It's also not possible to remove series reservations after the last episode simply because there is no end of series flag within the + spec.

13 weeks is chosen as the default time to delete redundant series record reservations as this is the specified time that has to elapse before the codes can be recycled for a different programme

May be the programme never got transmitted or the status change flags were not sent by the broadcaster
