Hi, tonight Tue 09/02/10 Piers Morgan at 22.35 I am unable to access ITV HD successfully.
It enters the HD screen, with sound only for about 2-3 seconds, then the screen goes blank.

I also noticed a few days ago on my scheduled series recording of Law and Order UK in HD, that it did not record.
Also Wild at Heart did not record in HD.

These problems have only appeared since the latest 4th Feb 2010, #13 firmware update.

Has anyone encountered this same problem?

My Law & Order recorded in HD without a problem this week. I checked the EPG for next week's episode and that seems to be correctly flagged at the moment! Did you have a failed recording message and icon or just nothing at all?

Hi I have just edited my initial post as you replied.
There are no failed recordings in the list.
It appears, similar to my tonights manual access, that the schedules are entering ITV HD and then unable to complete the process.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago.

I ended up doing a factory reset and it sorted the problem out so I reckon its probably your only option.

The only thing you will lose is your recording schedule. It wont affect programmes already recorded, so before you do a factory reset just make a note of all the programmes you are set to record in your schedule so you can add them again after the reset.

And make sure you are not recording anything when you do the reset or you will lose that too.

Performed a Factory Reset and re added my many schedules.

I also had to delete the non North East BBC channels located in the 900s as I get conflicts when selecting some BBC progs to record. Example Panorama as it stated conflicts with other BBC localalised (national) channels.

Is there a better way to stop this conflict?

As a test tonight selected at 19.30 to record on ITV HD Lion Country. All went well and is currently recording.

I can not prove it but Iam convinced the latest #13 software update on the 4th Feb created this problem.

I have the same problem. Will try a factory reset and see if this fixes it. I agree; this problem only appeared after last OTA upgrade.

It could be just coincidence because I have not had this problem lately but did have it about 6 to 7 months ago.

A reset fixed it and has been OK ever since.

It seems it just happens and nobody can put a finger on why. Last week I was watching ITV 1 HD and switched over to something else while the ads where on without pressing the blue button. Returning to ITV 1 HD after a couple of minutes the box would not give me the option of watching in HD.

I don’t know if it was because I did not cancel (blue button) the HD channel but it seem to bugger up the machine for awhile.

Turning the HDR on the next day everything was OK again and has been since.

Factory reset fixed it for me too.

I have today discovered i have exactly this problem. I dont bother watching or recording ITV HD much. Today I saw the local team `s (Reading) game was supposed to be in HD so i thought I`d see what the quality was like. It said to press the Red but then bounced me to the Blue (return option) as others have described.
Thinking it was just this particular program I tried again later with Wild at Heart ...exactly the same !....then I saw this thread .
I am a bit of a silver-surfer technophobe....can somebody give me simple instructions , (and things to beware of ), regarding the Factory re-set ??? ...please ?

1 make a note of your recording reservations you will need to re-enter them

2 Menu/Setup/Factory Reset - re-enter your postcode just as you did when you set up the box

After the reset turn the hdr volume back up (it goes back to 50%)

If you had non-freesat channels then you will have to add them again.

The main thing with performing a factory reset is that you will have to set the box up from scratch so basically the box will be in the same condition as when you first bought it, apart from all you recordings will still be on the hard drive. After a factory reset you will have to re-enter all of your recording schedules so it's a good idea to make a note of what is currently set-up, taking a photo with a digital camera is a handy way of noting these. If you want to view the non-freesat channels you will also need to do a manual scan, and remember the the box will then switch to non-freesat mode and will require you to switch back using the remote.

I have never seen the ending of Wild at Heart (HD) as it always cuts off before the end so this week I edited the timer and set it to record an extra 5 mins, on playback it had not recorded in HD but I got to see the end for a change

Thanks GaseousClay and grahamthompson, ......these are the sort of details I was looking for......my son set it up initially so I am a bit in the dark. Of course I do have the Manual.........but I trust the people on this site more , to try and cover all the wrinkles.

Thankfully I am not into non-freesat channels so that wont be a problem.
Your comments regarding proposed recordings list and the volume re-set are noted. (My wife has forbidden me to touch it until her proposed list has reduced though)

I am annoyed that this has happened, and can it happen again?.Does anyone know what causes it.? I found another thread which refers to the same problem occuring about a year ago. Any answers from Humax I wonder ?
