I dont think they'll be dropped, because I think it doesnt take a genius to see that Wordshaker's release was totally ballsed up, which is a shame, because I think track by track, its better than their first album.

I think the key problems were the choice of lead single, and the timing of the albums release. Forever Is Over is a good song, but its in no way special in my opinion. In fact, except for the chorus, I think its quite boring. I think if they had released Ego or something more catchy as their first single, the album would have done better.

And then of course, the album was released a matter of weeks after promo for CL ended. When I first heard Forever Is Over, I thought it was just another song from their debut - I had no idea there was a new album coming out. They should have waited until about now in my opinion, especially as sales are traditionally lower this time of year. I think putting them in at the deep end of the year was a huge mistake - I think their fanbase was totally overestimated, though the JCGE #2 should have shown them that. The thing is, at the start of 2009, the girls were still starting to find their feet, and I think their team may have overestimated their popularity. Im not sure what Here Standing will do for them as a next single though.. I think another upbeat song should have been released? One Shot or Lose Control perhaps

I do think theres hope though - I dont think they'll be dropped yet, because their single sales for Ego have been good, and they do strike me as more a singles act than albums anyway. And also, it would be really unfair to drop them after such a badly thought out release. They still have a lot of potential in my opinion - they just need to be given a better chance to establish themselves. Im sure a lot of people still have no idea who they are.. Its not like their household names yet.

the girls themselves said "there wont be a third album if wordshaker doesnt do well" ..... its a simple mathematical equasion...as long as they are making money theyll survive, however id suggest its very borderline whether they are a viable product. id suggest their uk sales arnt good enough and its this overseas venture that might rescue them .... or not.

imho they have failed to become established outside their fanbase.

They have had poor choices for lead singles and have had little promotion and like most people have already said have had little time between albums and went up against big acts.

They should have released Ego as the lead and then maybe One Shot, Wordshaker or Lose Control as second or third releases

forever is over peaked at #2, ego at #9 .... i dont agree that forever is over was a bad choice of lead single. 'up' superceeded 'if this is love' because it WAS better, 'ego' isnt.

tbh as a non fan, awaiting for them to fullfill their potential, i dont think they have produced a signature song yet. their material isnt the same quality as girls alouds, and new comers like pixie lott, little boots, la roux etc have passed the sats in the publics eye. they are at the brits, they are on tv, radio, media... imho the sats are still in second gear, if they dont change up soon theyll never do it.

Wordshaker would have been a good single, it seemed to have been popular on the tour. I think Lose Control is used on the St Trinians 2 movie soundtrack so thats probably getting some promotion. One Shot was also popular as they sung it on the tour and it sounded really good. I like Ego though

Oops. Sorry for not knowing EVERYTHING.

And the promo for Ego hasn't been consistant. They did some promo (GMTV, Alan Titchmarsh, Blue Peter, Alan Carr) in December but all the performances were either short (at least a minute chopped off the actual song), mimed or else a medley with a stupid Xmas song. Then they didn't do their promo again until AFTER 'Ego' got released (Dancing On Ice). They never had any promo for the release week. Most of the promo was in the middle of December.

i am a Sats fan always have been but FIO was the lowest selling #2 of year and Ego was released 3months after the album so most fans will have already had the album and not seen the point in buying the single, Ego is one of there biggest selling tracks even with the minimal promotion it had.

Apologies if already mentioned but it's another way of saying we can't do a tour because all our new stuff is bombing

Forever is over went out the chart quite quick. Their album has bombed. Ego has done really well and has maintained in the top 20 quite a bit because of further promotion even after the official release. It has perhaps sold more than Forever and Wordshaker put together.

Rochelle's said on her Twitter that this rumour about them not touring is not to be believed.
I love the Wordshaker album, so many potential singles.. Forever Is Over is my least favourite song on the album though..very suprised it got to number 2, but then the album wasn't out when the single was released.
I think Ego is a much better single, it's stayed around in the charts a bit longer, whereas Forever Is Over kinda peaked the dropped out. Presumably Ego's sales are better than Forever Is Over?

It might have been a lil mismash but they promoted the song in both December and January...the boost to the album in that time was minimal.

Tbh, if they were popular enough, just singing (live or not) 30 secs of a GOOD song, is enough to increase a song rapidly on iTunes!

FIO has sold about 130K and left the top 100 after 10 weeks. 'Ego' was #19 on Sunday and has sold about 185K.

I also prefer Forever Is Over to Ego. I have even come to prefer Forever Is Over to Up but I still like Issues most.

They'll lose their recording contract probably sooner than later, but they'll carry on performing etc, because you don't need a recording contract to do half of what they do on a daily basis. They'll earn more for themselves and their management, from PA's at festivals and TV shows and appearances in mags, ads and clothing etc.
