I don't think HIGNFY would suit the 8:30pm slot. Plus, they've both Outnumbered and Reggie Perrin to air in the next couple of months, so I'm guessing it'll be Thursday...if Matthew Graham is right about A2A on a Friday.”

Friday seems ok, not as good as a Monday but I would rather a new drama such as Luther, which looks very good, get the best slot to try and be a success and midly dent Ashes To Ashes potential. The ITV competiton is likely to be something like Marco Pierre White's show which Ashes will trounce so it seems a decent move. Also the beeb schedulers may be thinking of moving the comedy shows to Thursdays after the success of Gavin and Stacey and QI last year in those slots.

According to the Tv mags, Outnumbered is back the week after next, so it probably will be paired with HIGNFY on thursday nights.

My Family should be back soon too so I think that might go against Corrie on Fridays. Its had its day so I doubt many would be bothered with Corrie competiton but should still do decent business like QI does.

I think My Family will go on Wednesdays at 7.30pm once Life of Riley has finished. As for Ashes To Ashes, Friday could actually be a clever idea, although I don't know what it will do to the 16-34 viewers. Once The Door has ended, I think the ITV competition will be Marco's Kitchen Burnout, and when A2A clashed with Hell's Kitchen last year, neither were dented, so both should do well there. Moving the comedies to Thursdays sounds good too, but they need some good stuff earlier in the week or the schedule will looks barren.

Re Married Single Other, I agree with James J that it deserves another shot, but 16 episodes is way too many. Just give it another 6 with better writing and perhaps a new day (although only Sunday would be any better than Monday really), and if it works, great, but if it stays the same or drops, then get rid of it. It's worth a try.

Yeah it seems HIGNFY and Outbunbered will be paired up on Thursdays.

My Family followed by Waterloo Road, which is due back in a few weeks, sounds like a good setup to me.

And Ashes to Ashes will start on a bank holiday (Fri) too, which should give it a boost.

Fridays is an interesting move for Ashes to Ashes. Thursdays would have been the more obvious choice, but perhaps they didn't really want to go crime show vs crime show. Even if A2A did crush The Bill, it could still be dented - New Tricks had a fairly significant dip in its averages last summer during that clas (though The Bill came off much worse!). Wanting something big to kick off the Easter weekend of goodies might have something to do with it too.

I'm pleased to see them getting away from the Friday-only policy for comedy too. The 7.30 Wednesday slot is one they have to try and take advantage of, and Thursdays worked well last autumn. The Friday 9pm slot had been pretty underwhelming all 2009.

Tuesdays underwhelming again - its definately a sign of something when you see ITV sub 3m from 8-10 and don't even wince any more. Invisible Worlds did alright for what looked to me like more of a BBC Two sort of commission. The three smaller terresrials had tidy enough nights. One Born Every Minute has been a real success for Channel 4.

Meanwhile, the Saturday schedules show that Over The Rainbow is 90 minutes on 27th March, running from 6:30-8:00pm, therefore completely avoiding Push The Button, which reverts to an 8pm start, which puts it directly against Who Dares Wins. Over The Rainbow will air against You've Been Framed and Best of TV Burp, which should be airing in the Summer and not in March. Piers Morgan's Life Stories meanwhile features Joan Collins, so I can't see that doing particularly well at 9pm.

Has HIGNFY ever not been on Fridays before? Will be interesting to see how it works out at half 9 on Thursdays.

Strange to see HIGNFY returning a few weeks earlier, and on a different night. It doesn't go great guns in the ratings anymore, so maybe The Bill will give it boost?

I think it's on its last legs now, though. It's gone from "must see" to "meh" over the last five years or so.

Thursdays are funny on the BBC? I quite like the idea of midweek comedy night, maybe better off on Wednesday but good whenever. I disagree slightly that Ashes to Ashes should be on Friday though.

Monday: Richard Hammond's Invisible World
Tuesday: Waterloo Road, Ashes to Ashes
Wednesday: Comedy Night
Thursday: New Tricks
Friday: Holby City, Crimewatch
Saturday: Over The Rainbow, Casualty
Sunday: Enid

I don't know the demographics, but I would have thought the audience who stays in on a Friday Night would be the same audience who watched Holby City and Crimewatch.

Only for Election Night shows - and of course this series will feature an election special, so it'll be interesting to see where that goes. Might be alright there anyway.

Although the double header of Gavin and Stacey and QI in the autumn wasn't the familiar Thursday night BBC1 fare, back in 2005, in the same weeks leading up to Christmas, BBC1 paired up Little Britain and The Worst Week Of My Life on a Thursday night. Wonder where BBC2's comedy will go, if they have any.

I think it could do quite well, Mock the Week does well on Thursdays and QI used to be on a Thursday previously too.
I totally agree it's not what it was, but I still find it entertaining, I love the banter between Hislop and Merton and nobody else does a decent current affairs type quiz.

BBC1s schedule is looking quite good, good selection of programmes, have ITV anything new coming up? Bill and old Law and Order is kinda flat really. BGT can't come soon enough for them can it? They need it to be huge too! According to yesterdays Barb figures BBC1 has got highest ratings everyweek this year so far

Theres a new series of Psychoville on the way, that aired last Summer I think? And I think there's supposed to be another series of Lead Balloon. And Miranda is getting another run, though is rumoured to be moving to BBC1.

Top 5 (Adults 18-49):
1. American Idol (FOX) - 8.0
2. Lost (ABC) - 3.8
3. NCIS (CBS) - 3.4
4. NCIS:LA (CBS) - 3.2
5. The Biggest Loser (NBC) - 2.7
5. The Good Wife (CBS) - 2.7

Top 5 (Total Audience):
1. American Idol (ABC) - 22.57m
2. NCIS (CBS) - 17.60m
3. NCIS:LA (CBS) - 15.04m
4. The Good Wife (CBS) - 13.41m
5. Lost (ABC) - 8.76m

Every show was down from last week (Daylight Savings kicked in last weekend in the US). Lost and Parenthood hit their lowest ever ratings among adults 18-49 while NCIS and The Biggest Loser hit season lows.

Despite the start of the live finals, American Idol was also down to its lowest Tuesday rating of the season in the demo and marking 5 consecutive declines on Tuesdays (since hitting a 10.2 and nearly 28m for Ellen's first show). Compared to the equivalent show last year, Idol was down 14%.

I expect Life of Riley will do well tonight as Caroline Quentin was on The One Show immediately before plugging it.

In an attempt to keep his staff working, Conan O'Brien has embarked on a US tour named "The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On TV Tour" but it looks like they may have regular work from next January as FOX attempt to hammer out some sort of deal though issues still remain.

LA Times

Leno beat Letterman last night with better numbers than last week but he is still way down from last year.

FOX have ordered another season of Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay.

I wonder if they will move it to an hour?

I see the BBC scheduler has once again accepted the challenge of trying to fit the New Tricks repeats into every possible 9pm slot.

So long as they didn't show any clips, she might get away with it.

Thank you very much.

I'll let the writer of Life Of Reilly have that one for free for the inevitable third series.
