One side of me thinks that it could go on Sunday, not sure if it'd work though.
I mean on Saturday 22nd May, it'd have to move because of Champions League and on Saturday 23rd it'd have to move because of Eurovision.
I don't think it'd harm it at all having a consistent slot on Sunday's. Maybe:
18:00 - Heartbeat/The Royal
19:00 - Britain's Got Talent
20:00 to 22:00 - A Touch of Frost/Lewis/Foyle's War
Or:
19:00 - Heartbeat/The Royal
20:00 - Britain's Got Talent
21:00 to 23:00 - A Touch of Frost/Lewis/Foyle's War
They need to get these episodes of Heartbeat and The Royal out the can soon, and I can't think of a better slot than putting it directly before Britain's Got Talent. A lot better than 'dumping' it in the middle of Summer, at least here it has a chance of getting 5/6m and going out with respectable figures.
And then at 8pm, Britain's Got Talent would boost the 9pm shows a lot, whereas in the current Sunday line-ups they would probably struggle. After all The X Factor and Doc Martin combination worked wonders, I don't see why Britain's Got Talent and a drama combination wouldn't do the same.
If you leave Britain's Got Talent on Saturday you're boosting... what? Mr and Mrs? In my view, dramas at the moment - in particular on ITV1 need all the boost they need and I think putting BGT on Sunday would help them a lot.
OK, as C14E mentions I think BGT will almost certainly be down on last year, I cannot see it getting 19 million peak in the final this year, I really don't. On a Sunday for the auditions, you'd still be looking at ~9/10m for BGT with ~6/7m maybe for the drama following it.
