The BBC could have axed Film 2010 and nobody would have batted an eye lid. It was ridiculous Jonathan Ross was paid so much for two late-night TV shows and a Saturday morning radio show.
And like everything else the BBC do, it's half hearted. It's only on about half the year, so what's the point!

I haven't seen much of DOI this year. But I've always thought 5 judges is too much. Emma Bunton seems to have made no impact and I've never liked Jason Gardiner as the "nasty one".”
Well you haven't seen. They need the five judges for the scoring though really - would be stupid marking out of 18 or 24, or if they drop the 6.0 system (as ice dancing have) it wouldn't be as accessible to viewers IMO. A 6.0 means more than 10 out of 10.
What they need to do is just be fairer in how the judges comment, rather than going to Jason all the time.
I disagree too that SCD has any more pulling power than DoI - they've both had their fair share of duds. In theory at least DoI can pay more, though it's a tougher commitment, especially for older stars, but SCD always has and always will make up half it's cast from BBC faces - usually people from within the news or unrecognisable to the 55m+ who don't watch Casualty or Holby. Dancing on Ice casts it's net a bit wider IKO.

LOL.

The BBC and change don't go together though. Can't see Strictly doing anything which would appeal to the non-Strictly viewer - it's a very exclusive programme that doesn't really look to appeal beyond it's usual fanbase. (And credit where it's due, it's good to see a programme concerned more with the people who do watch than the people who don't watch).

Saturday nights TV in Australia though is a completely different ball game. It's as dead as ITV on a Tuesday nigth.

Quite poor, really. The last two finals had 11.7m (44%) and 10.8m (43%), so that's a big decline.
According to the overnights provided by DS, this series averaged 7.7m (29%). Down 0.66m (-8%) from last year's series. It's the second least watched series of the programme ever.”
Final down considerably - no hiding that - but the decline over the series is smaller than I imagined it would be, and not too much to worry about IMO. They just need to make sure anyone who excels at it and is the obvious winner from the moment they step on the ice is ruled out next year!
2009 saw bumper ratings for all ITV talent series, so I wouldn't be surprised if BGT and The X Factor suffer a similar fate this year.
