ok so 4 million is not especially high, 17% isnt either, there has been 17-20% last year.
So really the Bill won the slot due to poor competition. Again the question remains, if you move The Bill to 8pm, what better rating show can they put in the Thursday 9pm slot? |

Channel 4’s first live interactive web show drew 42,000 viewers this week – putting it almost on a par with UKTV’s Watch.
Firstly, some news about this weekend's reality shows. SYTYCD has lost one of it's finalists to injury, so last week's eliminee Alastair will replace Robbie. Cue people asking for refunds even though they have no claim to do so! The rather controling decision to keep the dance off in the semi-finals now works in their favours. (Stumbled across a bit of SYTYCD Australia this week too and Nigel's wife is a much better judge than he is! Their show felt young and fresh - the BBC's simply doesn't!) Also Michael Ball is to be the guest judge replacing Robin Cousins on Dancing on Ice this weekend. And secondly, the official ratings for Celebrity Big Brother, thanks to Digital Sid: Quote:
Week 1: Most watched series since BB8: Sunday - 6.7m Monday - 4.0m Tuesday - 3.5m Wednesday - 3.7m Thursday - 3.5m Friday - 3.8m Friday - 4.2m Week 2: Saturday - 3.3m Sunday - 3.6m Monday - 3.5m Tuesday - 3.6m Wednesday - 3.5m Thursday - 3.8m Friday - 3.9m Friday - 3.8m Week 3: Saturday - 3.0m Sunday - 3.3m Monday - 2.9m Monday - 3.3m Tuesday - 3.5m Wednesday - 3.2m Thursday - 3.4m Friday - 3.7m Friday - 3.5m Week 4: Saturday - 2.8m Sunday - 2.9m Monday - 3.4m Tuesday - 3.6m Wednesday - 4.0m Wednesday - 3.4m Thursday - 3.9m Friday - 4.1m Friday - 4.7m BB8- 3.9m CBB7- 3.7m BB9- 3.6m CBB6- 3.3m BB10- 2.4m |

4m every week isn't bad. Particularly compared to what was in the slot previously plus the 16-34 numbers being double that of L&O.
Again the question remains, if you move The Bill to 8pm, what better rating show can they put in the Thursday 9pm slot? |

So ITV must be OK then about not going over 4m during peaktime on Tuesday/Thursday and Friday.
Of course ITV would like higher figures but how? Given the real world constrainsts of budgets, available audience, other network competition, etc...... |

I dont think Material Girl should be seen as a benchmark for the BBC, even as a bench mark of failure

With episodes like the one last night ratings should be going up.
Considering the show's ratings share hasn't risen, and it's getting a Coronation Street lead in of nearly 10 million week after week, the current ratings aren't anything to get excited about. Even with poor competition the show can't top 4 million- most weeks it doesn't even get that. It's nothing to do with the timeslot and everything to do with the show- if it was still decent they's still be getting the 5 million plus every week it was getting pre-revamp. |

Unless they reverse the revamp, I'm never going to watch the show again. I caught a bit of an episode a couple of weeks back and it was hideous and unrecognisable.

if people are going to take that attitude, they might as well just axe it.

Ill agree with you it should be axed but that's down to the loss of its core audience who havent been able to adjust to the changes since the revamp, not necessarily the quality of the show. |

to be fair the episode with Dawn from EE, was poor, not helped by the poor acting by the before named actress, that might be the one James2001 watched, as with any 40+ episode a year show, there will be a hand full of bad ones. However last nights episode was very gripping, and edge of your seat drama, which the show would not have done at 8pm.

It's no wonder the BBC stick to New Tricks when thats how a big drama like Silent Witness repeats for them. The Bill is at least steady nowadays and while I doubt ITV are happy with its numbers, trying to improve ratings in that slot won't be right at the top of the priority list at the minute.
Not a lot to shout about for any of the terrestrials last night, really. BBC Two did OK, I suppose, and Five were pretty solid. I guess some stinging competition from the multichannels didn't help. |

How sad, BBC Two beat BBC One - whatever happened to high rating being promoted and low ratings demoted. Even more sad, The Bill came out top.

. I wished they'd repeat something like WDYTYA, all standalone episodes and some of the earlier episodes only played out on BBC2. I seem to remember they only repeated one once, Barbara WIndsor, but they might have done it more times.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008.../itv.tvratings I hope they repeat Outnumbered series one. |
