ITV's timekeeping seems to have improved on Fridays this year. I know they didn't show ads when Tonight was in the 8pm slot. Is there an ad break in DOI Friday?

They didn't want to give BBC1 an excuse to misbehave when Corrie celebrates its birthday in December.


Incidentally, BBC3 have replaced the planned repeat of Last Woman Standing at 8pm with Eastenders Live: The Aftermath.

I watched EastEnders with subtitles. I watch everything with the subtitles on because I mishear a lot of things. I was expecting the dreadful "live" subtitles where what appears in the caption is about three minutes behind what's actually being said, but the subtitles had clearly been done beforehand, from the script.

However, during the videotape scene with Dot and Ian, there was a change to live subtitles for a minute or so, so I'm guessing part or all of that scene was a rehearsed contingency measure in the event of a delay in setting up another scene.

I was too much of a gentleman to mention that.

FF used to get 8-10m against Casualty's 14-16m.

But that was in the day when 8-9m wasn't particularly good really for a Saturday night.

Another world isn't it, in ratings terms. I remember when Inspector Morse used to get 16-18m on ITV1 in the early 90s and all BBC1 could throw at it were Only Fools and Horses repeats - yet these still managed to get 10-11m!

Only a break to show a couple of promos.

By the looks of things, the BAFTA's are actually delayed by an hour or two (won't reveal spoilers for it), which will probably dent BBC1's rating for it.

The BAFTAs are never live anyway. It's usually not much of a ratings puller - wouldn't surprise me if tonight's ceremony slips below 4m.

I bet it will, the BAFTAs are always a dull affair but bloody hell tonight's ceremony would send even hardcore film fans into a coma! :yawn:

I can also remember when Blakes 7 could pull in 10 million viewers against 17 million for Coronation St. However, this was the three channel world and viewers would have their likes and dislikes and I would say sci fi fans wouldn't touch Corrie and vice versa. If your brow was even higher, ther would probably be Film Buff of the Year on BBC2.

Good start for Let's Dance for Comic Relief. Will be inetresting to see the battle between that and TV Burp/Push the Button next week. The Total Wipeout repeats are still doing the business - but what's happened with the new series?!

Family Fortunes is ridiculously being sacrificed in an early time slot, and it's suffering because of it. It should be held back if necessary and aired in a later slot. Take Me Out finished well and Mr. and Mrs was as consistent as always.

Like most awards ceremonies, viewers find them monotonous and self indulgent. However, if Sam Fox and Mick Fleetwood were hosting, then the audience would double as it would be so bad it would be good. How big a disaster movie is that Sam, disastrous I would say Mick.

So where the hell are they expecting ITV to air the spin offs then?

im getting a bit fed up with STV vs ITV, they need to have there heads banged together, and working out an agreement, not keeping having little battles, dragging on the war.

I think there problem is that ITV is directing STV viewers to a channel from which they make no income and that if they are going to continue to do it, STV should get some of the income.

I was under the impression STV did get a cut of the ITV spin-off channels. I'm shocked they don't.

They could have done if they'd have kept their S2 service going which was essentially a simulcast of ITV2 with one or two bits of Scottish tat added in (UTV had UTV2 which was practically the same). They closed the service as part of a deal with ITV (well, Granada and Carlton) and as far as I'm aware forfeited their rights to any income. This should get thrown out of court.

That's what I thought - that they made a deal whereby ITV got to run a load of digital channels and, I thought, STV would get a cut. Seems strange for them to ever agree to anything that gave them nothing.

If anyone can get access to the AI figures for last night, I'd be interested in what episode 7 of Being Human scored. That was seriously great telly and (apart from 2 comments on MG) was met with repeated "OMFG"s in all the blogs and threads I've read about it.

Ratings, no?

Uhm, what the smiley for indifferent? I missed half of them as the Olympics were more interesting. It seemed like an odd time to show it, it'd only be 4pm in New York and it'd be 10pm in Europe. I can't think of a reason to put it on so late! or were they scared of the shoddy ITV production bleeping style.
