Not sure about that though, as that Monday was the start of EE's anniversary week and Corrie had 1m more than EE that night. I don't think the EE episode caused Corrie to have 1m more that night as it was EE's lowest rating show that week?

BBC1's top 30 has quite a lot of news shows in it. Didn't realise it was usually that many?

That's what I thought too but I've looked on the BARB site at each week for Sept 2003 (not being able to remember off the top of my head the exact date of his return) and there's nothing higher than 13m there. The 16/17m that is often touted might just be the aggregated figure. I'm surprised by that actually.

DOI is down quite a bit on last year.

It's quite a feat for EastEnders to beat it. Although there's no chance for it to keep that top spot. England's first two group games are in primetime and should beat that.

BTW, I've just noticed from BBC2's figures:

Dirty Den's return got 16.66m on 29/9/03, which was the most watched episode of EE that year.


It depends on how BARB reports the World Cup figures. If they do just one rating for the entire broadcast, then EE could end up higher than the group matches especially if they're shown on ITV (lower figures than BBC).

Well thanks to the latest BARB figures we know the first episode did less than 243,000 in the officials. So not very well I would conclude.

Ah I forgot that he returned on the 29th which was a part of the first week of October. I was just looking through the month of September so it did do better than this. Fantastic for EE to pull its highest ratings since November 2003 though. I wonder what happened in that November episode. Nothing significant as far as I can recall.

I'm not surprised. It's a bit like Strictly last year in that the celebrities are frankly less impressive. Hardly household names most of them

Its hilarious, that Louis guy is just extraordinary. Hopefully the more people talk about it the higher ratings will get further into the series.

Great stuff for FIVE's top US dramas. Fantastic start aswell for the first two in the CSI:Trilogy with great timeshifts!

Hopefully Harry Hill's publicity TV Burp machine will help Sky1 programming.

His take on Pineapple Studios is classic Harry. I do reckon the TV Burp effect can have a good effect on many shows. Even though he slates the shows, it never seems to have a negative effect on them. Smaller BBC3 shows tend to get boosts (like Freaky Eaters) and Hole In The Wall got a HUGE boost of around 2 million IIRC and ironically at one point i vaguely remember HITW equaling/beating TV Burp

After last weeks take on Coach Trip, it's got me interested in that aswell.

I think the hockey could be more than 25m (maybe even nearer 30m) based on that household rating. A huge boost for the sport because it had fallen to 5th behind NFL, baseball, basketball and NASCAR.

Heat World on Twitter has leaked/revealed the date of the Stephen Gately BoyZone tribute as Sunday 21st March on ITV1. It is being recorded tonight.

Looks like BBC 3 could overtake ITV2 as the most popular digital station. It does have a number of advantages over ITV2: it has the EE repeat in a regular slot ( Corrie gets moved around and then repeated to death through the night), it invests far more in comedy and drama and isn't so skewed towards young women than ITV2.

I've been wondering about the World Cup. If match figures are separated from the pre- and post-match guff, when the officials are released, I'd expect an England match (although maybe not in the first round) to beat that EastEnders figure.

I wonder what would happen with the chart of the year on this thread, too, if the match overnights were higher than the officials for the whole broadcast. Would we end up with a football overnight going into the chart of officials, ahead of EastEnders?

And what if the Britain's Got Talent Final Results beats EastEnders, but a football match's overnights are higher than both?

Not that I venture into the soap ratings thread much but some will not have the fact that EE has a somewhat younger audience-and that these people are arguably more likely to watch the show at times other than the first showing.
