In other news ABC has commissioned an American version of 'strictly ice dancing' from BBC worldwide. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...43ab07509e9dc8”

Oooh ITV won't like that one bit! The BBC must have offered a lower price!

They moved it into the coming soon section.

Itv have shopped 'Dancing on Ice' to all the networks and no one would take it because of its similarity to Dancing with the stars and the fact that FOX all ready did their own rip-off 'skating with celebrities' in 2006.Its ratings were pretty mediocre.

I doubt ABC would have commissioned an american version of DOI from ITV in case they offended BBC Worldwide.

Dancing with the stars on ice was long rumoured, so I think the success of the olympics[skating] ratings wise probably helped.

They'll be hoping it does better than the American version of Dance X

Do we know if BBCW offered it or did ABC approach BBCW?

BBC WW has been pitching the spin- off to ABC for a while know. There was fresh talk about it last autumn.

Great Thursday for BBC One. They've had a great week. EastEnders did well towards the top of its share range and Masterchef is decent bit of alternative programming against the soaps. Good to see Five Days rebound a little with more great numbers.

Got to love the BBC having no advance idea as to what date one of their premiere dramas is returning.

Strictly ice dancing aired at christmas 2004, it was basically strictly with an ice rink instead of a dancefloor.It was a one-off special.

Heres a funny clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5dQpHujUX4

The same judge and contestant were on Dancing on Ice 5 years later doing the same thing

The Bill would probably fall down to about 3-3.5m, similar to last night.

Not sure where that's going to be shown. I guess summer (which would be weird) or a short 3 week run in December like Lets Dance was supposed to have (but ABC pulled it).

Why did ABC drop Let's Dance?

I read today that the American version of Prime Suspect has been scrapped as they had casting problems. Double blow for ITV Studios!

Looks like the best it can hope for now is a midseason premiere with the pilot having been pushed back to June but it probably just means the end for it. It had been looking like a decent candidate for the fall as well, the kind of thing that would work at 10pm.

Im surprised 5 Days is still over 6 million. It seems very slow paced and actually quite dull from what I have seen. I didnt see the original but I saw the sequel "Hunter" last year with the original cast and that was a very enjoyable two parter. I think it would have worked better as a two or maybe three parter but it appears most people are still enjoying it over 5 parts.

Good numbers again from Five Days. ITV soaps seem to have been dented by Masterchef again.

If we're to compare Five Days' numbers so far, with the other 'stripped dramas':

"Stripped Shows" - Ratings Comparison
BBC1 - Criminal Justice - Series 1

30/06/2008 - 5.51m (26.0%) *note: started at 21:35 due to Wimbledon
01/07/2008 - 4.76m (22.0%)
02/07/2008 - 4.97m (23.0%)
03/07/2008 - 4.64m (20.3%)
04/07/2008 - 4.46m (21.1%)
Series Average = 4.87m (22.5%)

BBC1 - Torchwood: Children of Earth
06/07/2009 - 5.94m (25.8%)
07/07/2009 - 5.58m (24.0%)
08/07/2009 - 5.87m (27.1%)
09/07/2009 - 6.24m (27.0%)
10/07/2009 - 5.81m (26.7%)
Series Average = 5.89m (26.1%)

BBC1 - Criminal Justice - Series 2
05/10/2009 - 4.44m (18.9%)
06/10/2009 - 4.67m (19.9%)
07/10/2009 - 4.36m (19.1%)
08/10/2009 - 4.22m (18.4%)
09/10/2009 - 4.37m (18.8%)
Series Average = 4.41m (19.0%)

ITV1 - Collision
09/11/2009 - 7.50m (30.4%)
10/11/2009 - 6.32m (26.5%)
11/11/2009 - 5.97m (25.2%)
12/11/2009 - 6.51m (27.9%)
13/11/2009 - 6.40m (26.8%)
Series Average = 6.54m (27.4%)

BBC1 - Five Days
01/03/2010 - 7.39m (28.9%)
02/03/2010 - 6.75m (27.0%)
03/03/2010 - 5.97m (22.8%)
04/03/2010 - 6.40m (26.7%)
05/03/2010 - ??
Series Average = 6.63m (26.4%) *excludes Friday

Percentages Average
27.4% = Collision (ITV1)
26.4% = Five Days (BBC1) *excludes Friday
26.1% = Torchwood: Children of Earth (BBC1)
22.5% = Criminal Justice: S1 (BBC1)
19.0% = Criminal Justice: S2 (BBC1)

Audience Average
6.63m = Five Days (BBC1) *excludes Friday
6.54m = Collision (ITV1)
5.89m = Torchwood: Children of Earth (BBC1)
4.87m = Criminal Justice: S1 (BBC1)
4.41m = Criminal Justice: S2 (BBC1)

So Five Days could be well on its way to being the most watched "stripped" programme in the short history of "stripped" programmes. Although saying that, you could argue that Collision's success was greater considering it was the first "stripped" programme on ITV1 and the percentage share overall was higher than Five Days.

Masterchef does seem to benefit from the Eastenders lead in as it was up by 700,000 from Wednesdays.

Five did well with Hang Em High, obviously Clint Eastwood seems to draw in the ratings although there wasn't much competition aside from Five Days.

Apparently the demand from SyCo and Talkback Thames is for an additional £3m for The X Factor budget this year. Over a 44 hour series, that's an increase of less than £70k an hour so I can't see ITV being too distraught and it is apparently being focussed on the live shows.

I wonder if that's partly to cover the costs of the rumoured arena final.

'Comedy Rocks' - the new ITV1 show we were talking about yesterday hosted by Jason Manford - will air as a one-off on Friday March 26th, the week after Dining Stars ends. If the show rates well, it'll be picked up for a full series.

Also a new episode of Midsomer Murders coming up later this month, probably Wednesday 24th March: http://www.itv.com/presscentre/press...s/default.html

It did very well. FIVE has beat BBC2 in every single key 9pm slot this week with its films and US dramas and will most likely do it again tonight. Also I'm pretty sure it came 3rd or 4th in all 9pm slots last week. With strong films, factual and US dramas FIVE is doing quite well at the moment.

Build A New Life obviously dented by Country House Rescue and the fact it is being taken off air for the football on certain weeks.

The football is probably the main reason why The Mentalist got moved to Fridays plus there aren't many slots left apart from Monday which is being reserved for Mondays.

Will be interesting how The Business Inspector does, it only has a short run of 4 episodes but I guess they are testing the waters before commisioning a full series.

Strictly Ice Dancing 26 Dec 2004 (BBC)

Dancing on Ice Jan 14 2006 (ITV)

I think BBC had the idea long before ITV decided to copy it

Bit difficult to avoid, being as ITV broadcasts 24/7.

The first episode was rather slow but it's actually turned out to be quite absorbing. It's no Criminal Justice but it is still quite a decent drama.

Not true - you should get your facts right.

ITV had commissioned and planned Dancing on Ice before Strictly commissioned the spin-off IIRC.

Think about it...Dancing on Ice was a long series, Strictly Ice Dancing was a one-off special - so which one was commissioned first?

So, if anything, it was a bit naughty from the BBC.

just had my digiguide update, not much to mention, Ashes to Ashes is unplaced, why is it always the shows we care about which are unplaced? chances are Doctor Who will be as well.

moving on, there is no additional information on the S9 finale of TV Burp, maybe its to early, but how they bill that will be very interesting

no The Daily Show that week.
