The fact you never see the wealthier people on the square go to work or look like they've been at work yet they seem to have lots of money.

characters rarely are seen watching tv or on computers etc
Don't agree with those two. Tamwar is always on his laptop, so is Lucy and sometimes Ian. Roxy was internet banking...of sorts the other day, Max has computers in the car place, Archie had a laptop etc...

Phil and Shirley do nothing but watch tv, Jack and Ronnie have watched films. OK it's not heaps but enough. Would be dull if they sat doing what we're doing all day

Agree with the others though, particularly the washing machine absence and the going 3 yards from home to the cafe for a coffee. No wonder no one has ever got any money!

at work we were talking about how certain things in eastenders make it unrealistic. so im wondering if anybody else would like to add to the list??? heres some of our observations

nobody has a washing machine

characters rarely are seen watching tv or on computers etc

dot cotton is still wearing the same clothes as in 1985

that many people die there but people still move in. if i lived in an area with such a death rate i would move pronto

parents are often seen without there young children/babies with no suggestion of where they might be

most of the drinks in the vic are 'on the house'. how do they make any money?
max and tania branning had a washing machine dont know if they still do but they deff used to have one.
and nearly everytime they go into the beales house someone is on a laptop.
either peter or lucy or ian...
so i disagree with those statements..but agree with the rest.

Bianca once said, "I'm going for a poo" in The Vic.

The teens of the square don't seem to be interested in Msn or Facebook which is what most normal teens spend their whole lives on.

They seem more interested in making our lives hell.

This is quite true of old people, I saw a picture of my late Grandma the other week taken in May 1988 (to me it seems like yesterday but is now nearly 22 years ago ....!) and in that photo she was wearing a pair of shoes that she was still occasionally wearing before she passed in March of this year.....! So Dot wearing the same sort of attire as she was from 25 years ago doesn't really surprise me! Dot doesn't look much different either since 1985, she's aged exceptionally well!

I used to occasionally see Dirty Den walking their poodle (who's name escapes me - Roly?), Robbie walking Wellard and then Sean Slater doing so more latterly but with the exception of Bradley being taken for a walk by Gumbo last year, since then everybody's forgotten they've got legs I think!!

He wasnt just unhappy about the gardens, he was extremely reluctant and forceful about not letting anyone touch that patch where he buried Libbys pops, but not any other patch. He was acting all strange in that convo with Libby. He sent flowers to thingies mum and lied about it. And he got caught out with that one. He came in with mud all over his shirt on his wedding day. He was acting real funny about letting anyone check the boot in Phils car. He's done quite a few suspicious things. Its also unrealistic that there's been no police investigation when someone has been missing for that long. Or noones even thought to inform the police.
None of which in the real world is going to lead you to suspect he's offed someone and buried them in the Square.
You want to look at how many people go missing each year, I'm talking adults who disappear without a trace.
Linky.

Give Owen's previous, Alky who kidnapped his own daughter, battered his ex-missus, plus him being on probation and a restraining order too IIRC.
The Police investigation probably wouldn't get any further than reporting his last sighting down the station and a statement.
If the Police came round giving all and sundry the billy quizz over Owen's disappearance, that would be a stretch.

The whole digging up the square and putting in a fountain was a load of tut though and it's been mentioned before, Council and Thames water just wouldn't let them do it.

Den was forever walking Rolly, usually as an excuse to nip off and see his bit on the side or something of that order.
Rolly was a regular face around the Pub like a normal Publican's dog, but he was the Producers dog IIRC.

Who's Terence living with btw?

Roly probably died of being overfed by the punters in the end, with the amount of time he used to spend in the Vic back in the day! He was a hybrid sized poodle though I recall....! As for Terence, pass.......!

Roly died off-screen in 1993 as a result of being hit by a truck as a result of slipping his lead to chase a cat whilst out for a walk with Mandy Salter. Sharon had asked Grant to take him for a walk but Grant offered Mandy some money to do it for him.

Don't people who have been released from prison have to sign on with a probation officer or something for a while? If this is so then surely the police would be wondering why Owen hadn't signed on ...

Sorry missed this post from ages ago.
The Police have got lots of out standing warrants for people who've done a bunk while on probation, bail, absconders from local authority care, etc.
People do a bunk all the time, it's like signing on the dole for a grilling and getting nothing for it.
Given Owen's previous they'd probably write him off quite quickly, low risk, low priority, soon forgotten in the system.

In my limited experience they dig out the warrants occasionally and chase them up at last known addresses.

Perfect fruit for someone who's been paralysed down one side.

They're hard enough to get into with two hands!
