Because clearly Ian needs reminding his mum is called Kathy at this point (unlike the audience who are still familiar with a character who left 6 years ago... )!”

After she said it's your mum Ian, he then asked what was wrong and Jane said Kathy's dead. Makes sense to me as she's hardly likely to say Mum's dead.

Why do you need it to keep going? Cos there's a very successful one on Corrie running. Is your life really that empty?

I'm not saying there shouldn't be a thread like this just wondering why it's so important to you especially at your age.

Also, I know it,s been said many times before, but no one is allowed to work outside the Square, the latest being Carol Jackson, now working at the carlot. What happened to the really good job she has elsewhere( a secretary/PA or something). Why would she give it up”

Being as the poster you quoted is on my ignore list , at my age my views are as valid as anyone else , for his eyes I will do what the hell I like with my time and I am not afraid to accept PMs

Jane would have said "She's dead", not "Kathy's dead". I don't know about anyone else, but I don't call my partner's mum by their first name when talking to my partner, I say "your mum".

Cant believe they,ve made Carol Jackson work in that grotty launderette. A smart , intelligent woman like her, who,s previously worked as a secretary/ PA. However, that,s EE, everyone must be so desperate for cash, that they will do any old job for the minimum wage. Also, why is Heather slogging away there, she should still be on maternity leave

She had George in October, so she would be back working by now

Carol smart, intelligent? She was a secretary at a school, not exactly something you need a degree for. Carol used to work in the launderette years ago, not to mention her stint working in Ian Beale's cafe. Anyway maybe you should wait and see how the plot plays out before criticising.

Statutory Maternity Leave is usually 39 weeks, usually longer. Also, she has been back working for ages, which doesn,t make sense

Still think she could do better than that dump.

As far as we know she's only worked as a School secretary, which doesn't make her a member of mensa.
She can't get references, was telling porkies on the phone about the length time she'd worked at the car lot.
Oh there's a recession on at the moment, lots of people have to take whatever they can get.
What should really be a surprise is that Carol can find a job at the launderette at all, I'd have thought they wouldn't be short of walk-in applicants.

I'm enjoying most of this thread, and disagree that pointing out errors/unbelievable events etc. is destructive or malicious.

I love Corrie but enjoy reading the SoR thread on that.

I didn't stop watching Stenders just because it was unrealistic (and as a real "Eastender", I assure you it is), I stopped because of the relentless negativity, shouting and revolving door family setups, and the fact that they couldn't have one strong female character manage without some dipstick man for five minutes.

Since reading the funnies here, I've caught some of it and enjoyed it - I made a point of watching the 10 minute body burial, for example.

It's more fun if you can laugh at it.

And yet you think someone like Adam wouldn't be able to drive a car?

... Anyway, how can you have an IQ of 202? Anything above 140 is considered genius and I don't think there's many IQ tests that can score that highly.

Indeed, wintermute101 is obviously a troll so let's not 'feed' it eh! The Intelligence Quotion test only measures a 'specific' type of intellect too and ignores 'arts' based subjects....but let's get back on topic eh?

Just because Adam's in a wheelchair doesn't mean he can't drive a car. That's why they have disabled parking isn't it?

Er...yes in theory, although they're there for anyone who is a 'Blue Badge' holder - registered disabled. Nice idea but the spaces tend to be taken up by idle, lazy-arsed morons who know little better! Fining these cretins would be ideal but this Government is inept it's untrue.

Anyway.....getting back to EastEnders....

Minty and Phil making a play for those two twenty something girls who just happened to wander into the Vic, I know they were only scrounging drinks from them, but they actually thought they stood a chance

Why do EE threads always turn into a slanging match. eurgh...
i love the corrie version of this thread but this is so hard and annoying to read because of the stupid people here who have to argue at every opportunity.

Many of us older, ugly men have fallen for that one I'm afraid. I have found it easier just to stand and wave a chequbook in the air rather than chat anyone up nowadays.....................

I know this was mentioned on the main episode discussion and also the Carol & Dot thread but why didn't Dot put an Out Of Order sign on that broken machine. Its all very well writing it down for Carol to read in the instructions but for anybody coming in off the street wishing to use the machine they would not have know it wasn't to be used.

Also in yesterdays episode Roxy said most of her staff couldn't come in because of the snow. That would be the same staff who live in or around the square because as everyone knows that in soap land people only live a 30 second walk away from their place of work.
