Someone like Steven Cousins would have been my choice.

I have no problem whatsoever in accepting Emma as a performance related judge. I think she's doing fine.

And Michael hasn't done just Les Mis and Phantom. He has also done Pirates of Penzance, Woman in White, Passion, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Aspects of Love and Hairspray (and others). He is not a dancer but he is a bona fide performer. Listen, I would prefer someone who is a skater too. But, if we have to have another performance judge then you could do a lot worse.”

True but I don't think, as indeed you say, that anyone of those shows (Chitty?) apart from Hairspray has much dancing content. You could have a top actor but Ruthie showed the problems wih that - they either end up pointing out that the non actors can't act and the actors can - or worse they say its the other way around. You might as well have Biggins or Rowan Atkinson or Elaine Paige. You could always I agree find worse, but they could go the other way too.

They also have the problem that Robin isn't only a skating enabled judge, he's also the head judge and the insurance against Nicky and Karen going off in different directions. They now have one new judge , one relatively new judge, one kindly judge, one nasty judge who marks low and one judge who marks all over the place for the reason of the moment. You might as well ask Biggins.

Let's not give ITV any ideas.

My question is, since 90% of Emma Bunton's scores were exactly the same as Robin's, even when Robin's were surprising to everyone else, what will Emma Bunton's scores be like this week?

(Only her score for Kieran was 0.5 different, which is statistically virtually impossible)

EDIT - as in...will she copy Michael?..lol

Yes, thank you for your apology regarding the Spice Girls!

You obviously never saw Chitty. Yes, it had dancing in it.

Get over it! Robin is not going to be replaced! I would hate it if he was. Karen and Nicky are still there. Calm down! They haven't just plucked someone from mid-air - Michael has a drama degree, takes theatre workshops and has a lot of performing experience. I know you don't want another performance related judge - we get it, but it's ONLY FOR TWO WEEKS!

I think Michael will be fine. He's got loads of experience in theatre. He's not there to judge the skating, just the performance.

But then, I think Emma is fine too! And I don't understand how she can 'copy' anyone. They have to give their marks at the same time by pressing a button. She can't alter her mark to match someone else's, surely?

As Holly seems to have a preference for asking Jason and Emma for their views far more often than any of those who actually understand skating, I don't suppose Robin being away a couple of weeks will make a lot of difference, no matter who takes his place.

Normally I might be bothered, but this series is so boring, I'm not sure I really care either way.

Michael Ball was AWFUL as a judge on Soapstar Superstar
Today

Have to disagree with this statement too. Michael gave the contestents good, clear, constructive points to work with when he was a judge on Soapstar. He was fair but also not afraid to say if he thought something hadn't worked. Michael may not be a proffessional dancer but he has danced during the various shows he has been in and as I recall actually had months of pretty intensive lessons in prepartion for his role in Chitty.

As a fan of this show (and strictly for that matter) I think I can see for myself when a contestent has produced good lines etc. As must we all or else this will be a very quiet forum tomorrow night. Likewise I'm sure Michael will do just fine

I like Michael Ball as a person, having seen in various performances, he comes across as honest, perceptive and good humoured I am sure he will be a good judge, a change from the dour Robin Cousins (yes I know he is a former skater), but variety is the spice of life !!

Emma will have nobody to copy off this week!

I like Michael Ball, though it would've been nice if they'd found somebody who is an expert in skating like Robin is - however I feel anybody famous related to ice skating is already within DOI!

I'm just so relieved it's not Ray Quinn.

I thought Michael did a good job as a judge on DOI. He might not know anything about skating, but he does understand the necessity of poise etc., and gave some very constructive critiques.
