Buying a new handset question
Forgive the dumbness of this.
I'm with Virgin, always have been. Used to be PAYG but last summer went onto PM - absolutely rock bottom contract at £8.50 for 100+100, for VMedia customers. I like the phone well enough but I like gadgets, and could hanker after a different one, just because. On the site all I can find are phones free with packages. I don't want to change package, just handset. Is there a bit I'm missing somewhere? Thanks. |

You can't get a new Pay Monthly phone until you're entitled to an upgrade - which will be at the end of your current contract. How long is your contract?
The alternative is to buy a Pay As You Go hanset and stick the Pay Monthly sim card into it. |

Oh I see. That's what it looked like.
I've still got 12/18 months to go - but I didn't want a free upgrade, I want to buy one. So, if I buy a PAYG phone, I can just switch my sim over? Won't VM 'know' somehow? Could I buy any unlocked handset and just move the sim? Thanks for your help. |

Yes you can buy a PAYG (On the same network) or a SIM free handset and move the sim card across, They can tell what phone you have as the IMEI number is transmitted to the network when you call out but unless it's blacklisted they won't care.
