I'm fifteen years old, I've not taken music at school...but of late I've really gotten into music more and more, I've been learning the guitar for a couple of months and it's going really well and I'm starting to eclipse some friends who've been playing for years, not to blow my own trumpet.

Do you think, If I ever get very good there's a chance of me making it when I'm older? My cousin took up the guitar much later than me and he's currently in a band and has played a couple of festivals (although I think their music is bloody awful ).

I'm not really relying on music, I'm not delusional like some people, I'm a worker bee really , i.e. I still practise my instruments a lot but the schoolwork does come first.

Anything is possible. However, the chances are very slim and you'd be very lucky to get some sort of contract or any form of minor success no matter how talented you are. What to do is write some songs, keep playing instruments and do some gigs. Perhaps post YouTube videos of yourself as well and make a MySpace or something and get other peoples feedback and put your songs on them for people to hear. You could maybe get "spotted" by someone at a gig/festival or on MySpace if people make a buzz about you, or you could send tapes away of yourself to a small label or something.

Put the guitar down and get yourself down to the X-Factor auditions.

Yes of course you can!!!!!

Just think of it as a hobby though, jam with your friends and play as many pubs, parties etc as possible. Even if you don't 'make it' you will still have a great time!

Get some gigs, get your name known. Get to know the right people.

Nothing is impossible, but keep yourself and your hopes grounded, because you need a lot of luck to be spotted. Get your face out there like others have suggested, and most importantly enjoy what your doing. If it happens, it happens, but if it doesnt, at least you get to enjoy yourself anyway.

Exactly what I was thinking, if I enjoy it as a hobby, where's the problem?
